Third seed Carlos Alcaraz is looking to make more history at Wimbledon in the next fortnight. The Spaniard is coming into the third Grand Slam of the year after winning his first Roland Garros.

If he repeats last year’s heroics at SW19, he will become one of the few players to win Roland Garros and Wimbledon back to back. Alcaraz spoke about this potential achievement in the pre-tournament Wimbledon press conference.

Winning Grand Slams is complicated. Obviously, it is a change from clay to grass, totally different surfaces. I will try. I want to write my name on the short list of winners of Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the same year. I know it will be very complicated and a big challenge, but I'm ready.
Carlos Alcaraz said (H/T: Punto de Break)

Only four players in the modern era have won Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the same season: Bjorn Borg, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic. Nadal and Borg are the only ones to do it multiple times.

If Alcaraz manages to add his name to this list, it will be another milestone ticked off in his already incredible career. He will start his Wimbledon title defense on Monday against unseeded Mark Lajal.

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in the same half of the Wimbledon draw

Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and top seed Jannik Sinner are in the same half of the Wimbledon draw. They could face each other in the semi-finals. The Spaniard beat the Italian in the Roland Garros semi-finals on his way to winning the title earlier this month. The Spaniard leads their head-to-head series 5-4.

Third seed Alcaraz is set to play Ugo Humbert in the fourth round. He might face either eighth seed Casper Ruud or Queen’s champion Tommy Paul in the quarter-finals. The three-time Grand Slam champion starts the tournament against Estonian qualifier Mark Lajal and is aiming for his fourth major title.

Sinner, ranked No. 1, will play Germany’s Yannick Hanfmann in his first match. He might meet Matteo Berrettini, the 2021 finalist, in the second round. In the fourth round, he could play against 21-year-old American Ben Shelton. Sinner’s possible quarter-final opponent is Daniil Medvedev, who was a semi-finalist in 2023.
