I’m not used to dealing with so many injuries. And this year was a tough time for me, you know, when I faced the clay court season. But I ended up doing well. At the same time, I look back and I think I had a really good season. I’m really proud of what I did to overcome the problems I had, the doubts I had. Overall, I’m just happy with everything I learned this season and hopefully in 2025 I can try to copy or do even better.

Carlos Alcaraz said in an interview at Charlotte Invitational

Alcaraz had a strong start to the 2024 season. Despite an early exit at the Australian Open, the 21-year-old bounced back by winning the BNP Paribas Open.

His highlight of the year came after June when he joined an elite group of players to win both Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the same season. However, his form declined after losing the Olympic gold medal match to Novak Djokovic. He won just one more title and suffered early exits at both the US Open and the ATP Finals.

We hate each other. I’m kidding, I think we have a really good relationship off the court, when we play each other on court we have huge respect for each other, that’s great for tennis and for the competition.

Carlos Alcaraz said in his press conference

The two players faced off in an exhibition match in Charlotte, North Carolina, marking their final match of the year. Over the years, their friendship has grown, and they often share laughs and speak highly of each other. Fans enjoy their camaraderie and mutual respect.

This week, Alcaraz played two exhibition matches in the United States. On Wednesday (December 4), he defeated Ben Shelton at Madison Square Garden. On Friday, he played against Tiafoe at the Charlotte Invitational, where the crowd enjoyed a thrilling contest.

Alcaraz started strong, winning the first set. Tiafoe, wearing a Charlotte Hornets jersey to excite the home crowd, dominated the second set, losing just one game. The match ended with a tight tiebreak, where Tiafoe edged Alcaraz 5-7, 6-1, 1-0 (11-9) to secure a victory on home soil.
