Defending Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz has given insight into his nerves while serving for the championship in the Wimbledon 2023 and Roland Garros 2024 finals. The Spaniard was up against Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev in those finals, respectively.

Alcaraz admitted that he was shaky in the final games. However, he also emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive mindset despite the volatile circumstances.

In the final game at Roland Garros [the French Open] this month, I was shaking. The same is true at the Wimbledon final last year. My legs, my hands. It is a difficult moment and you have to trust yourself. Everything I think in that moment is: 'Go for it. If you miss it, you miss it. Don't hold back. Don't regret. Play positive. Go aggressively. Play your game.' It's OK to miss that happens.
Carlos Alcaraz said as per The Times

Alcaraz’s first Grand Slam came at the US Open in 2022, where he defeated Casper Ruud in four sets. That Grand Slam was fundamental in securing his year-end World No. 1 ranking. He was the first player outside the Big 4 since 2003 to finish the season at the top of the world rankings.

Since then, Grand Slam victories at Wimbledon and Roland Garros have further enhanced his reputation. Many former and current tennis players are placing him at the level of the Big 3, despite his young age of 21 and having won three Grand Slam titles.

It has even happened to Federer who was 40-15 on service in the fifth set and lost [against Djokovic in the epic 2019 Wimbledon final]. Top players in every sport have lost in important moments. But if you try and you miss, you are going to learn from it. If I hadn't lost the matches I lost in 2022, I would never have achieved what I achieved. I learnt from every defeat. You have to learn from moments you the live.

Records for Carlos Alcaraz to break at Wimbledon this year

Carlos Alcaraz made history by beating Alexander Zverev to win the French Open. The young Spaniard became the first male player to win his first three Grand Slam titles on all surfaces: hard court, grass, and clay. He also became the youngest to achieve this before turning 22.

As Wimbledon starts, Alcaraz aims to make history again. He hopes to join an exclusive group of players who have won both the French Open and Wimbledon in the same year. Only five men have done this since 1968, including the Big 3 (Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic)

Winning these tournaments back-to-back is tough. The French Open is on slow clay, while Wimbledon is on fast grass. Players need to quickly adjust their game, movement, and strategy in just a few weeks.

Alcaraz is one of the favorites at Wimbledon, alongside Jannik Sinner, who won the Australian Open, and Djokovic, who is recovering from knee surgery. Zverev has shown promise after performing well on grass in Germany.

In case you missed it!
