Carlos Alcaraz reflected on the matches he played in the last couple of months ahead of kick-starting his run on the hard court again. Alcaraz is chasing his fifth title of the season, having won the Indian Wells, French Open, Wimbledon, and the Olympic silver medal.

Alcaraz is 38-7 for the season. He recently played the final in Paris on his debut at the Olympics and lost in straight sets to Serbia’s Novak Djokovic 7-6(7-3), 7-6(7-2).

In May, when the five-time Grand Slam champion played during the Madrid Open, an arm injury forced him to withdraw from the Rome Open, but he made a terrific comeback at Roland Garros and clinched the trophy by beating Alexander Zverev in the final in five sets and became the youngest to win all Grand Slam titles on three surfaces at the age of 21.

Honestly, I realized what I had done. These last couple of months have been great. Yeah, in Madrid, it wasn't a good time for me. But honestly, I am happy with the way that I came back after the injury. It was a great month and I am happy about it.
Carlos Alcaraz told Ziggo Sport

Alcaraz was then asked whether he was excited to play on his favorite surface. The Spaniard however admitted he feels comfortable playing on all three surfaces.

I am happy to be back on hard court. The tournaments that I have ahead, I am excited about playing them. And obviously, right now I don't know what my favorite surface is but I am feeling really comfortable playing on the three of them.

Last year, Alcaraz reached the final but was defeated in three sets in a thriller by Novak Djokovic. This year, Alcaraz will play his opening match against either Gael Monfils or Alexei Popyrin

In the 2022 Cincinnati Open, Alcaraz was knocked out of the quarterfinals by Cameron Norrie, while in 2021, he played the Qualifiers and got eliminated by Lorenzo Sonego in the Round of 64. Alcaraz is yet to win the tournament and if he wins, it will be his second ATP 1000 Masters title of the year.
