World No.3 Carlos Alcaraz continues his fine work at the Grand Slam events, as he got past his Wimbledon second-round opponent without breaking a sweat yesterday. He is the defending champion at the SW19 and many may wonder if the pressure of living up to the title gets to the youngster.
Prior to Wimbledon, Alcaraz suffered an early exit from the Queen’s Club Championships and failed to defend his title there. It seemed like the Spaniard lacked some form on the grass, but he returned stronger at Wimbledon to prove everyone wrong. He won the first match 7-6(3), 7-5, 6-2 with some pressure from his opponent.
The second match was also quite similar as it started out with a tie-break in the first set, followed by domination from the youngster. Eventually, he won the match 7-6(5), 6-2, 6-2. Speaking about the pressure of being the defending champion, Alcaraz dismissed the feeling of stress and revealed to focus on the present rather than the external pressure.
Trying not to think about the pressure that I have to win it again. Trying to think about every day, every match, every practice, trying to be better. That’s all I’m thinking right now.Carlos Alcaraz said at the Wimbledon press conference

Carlos Alcaraz is pleased with his level of tennis in the second round
Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz began his title defense at the SW19 in a very fashionable way. With two round wins, the Spaniard has started the tournament well but is only supposed to improve with the draw getting even harder.
He was rather dominant in his latest victory, hitting over 40 winners. Though he struggled in the first set, Alcaraz used it as a learning but was overall pleased with his form and level of tennis.
I am really happy about my performance. I think the first set was the key. He served for the set and I broke and after I played a really good tie-break. I played a really high level in the second and third sets, so I am really happy about it.Carlos Alcaraz revealed during his post-match interview
The youngster will now take on the current biggest American tennis star Frances Tiafoe. Two aggressively styled tennis players will take on each other in a mouthwatering clash on Friday.
