Carlos Alcaraz is a player with a lot of personality and knows how to enjoy life beyond tennis, even though his top priority is winning titles. Following his success at Wimbledon, he shed light on why the quick trips to Ibiza were vital to him.
The 21-year-old has been in scintillating form this season. In January, he didn’t feature in a warm-up tournament ahead of the Australian Open like several top players and yet reached the quarterfinals of the tournament. He won his first title at the Indian Wells and after exiting the Miami Open he took a break with a quick vacation in Ibiza.
After celebrating his maiden French Open win last month with his family and friends, he got his grass swing underway by competing at the Queen’s Club Championships. Though he failed to defend his Queen’s title, he performed well at Wimbledon and successfully defended his title.
While working hard towards achieving his tennis goals, Alcaraz has stated that he doesn’t want to feel like a slave to tennis and that is why his trips to Ibiza were important to him.
I am here living a dream, for me it is crazy to be able to play these types of tournaments, to be able to win them, but I also want to have time for myself. I don’t want to feel like a slave to tennis and not have time for myself. Those little getaways to Ibiza, to enjoy, to have time to rest, to have time for myself, I think it is fundamental and very necessary to then perform and come back to the court with batteries charged.
