Carlos Alcaraz sets eyes on ‘prestigious’ Laver Cup as he looks forward to representing Team Europe on ‘serious competition’ debut
World No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz admits the Laver Cup is a serious competition ahead, as he aims to win it in his first participation.

Carlos Alcaraz has admitted that the Laver Cup is a serious competition ahead of the seventh iteration of the event which gets takes place from September 20 to 22. The 21-year-old is looking forward to representing Team Europe in its quest to win the title.
Laver Cup was created in 2017 but became an official ATP event in 2019. However, since Roger Federer played his last career match at the event in 2022, it has become an attraction in the sport. Alcaraz will be featuring in the event for the first time in his career. He will join a star-studded Team Europe that has Alexander Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Casper Ruud, Daniil Medvedev, and Grigor Dimitrov. The team will be captained by Swedish legend Bjorn Borg.
Team Europe will play against Team World, who is hoping to extend their winning streak in the event. Captain John McEnroe‘s roster consists of Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, Ben Shelton, Alejandro Tabilo, Thomas Kokkinakis, and Francisco Cerundolo.
Following Alcaraz’s poor US Open performance that saw him exit in the second round, he has bounced back with confidence at the Davis Cup. He helped Spain clinch a quarterfinal ticket, defeating France to top Group B. He is relishing to continue with the form at the Laver Cup.

Team Europe won the first four editions of the Laver Cup, but in 2022 and 2023, the team suffered a disappointing defeat to Team World. Team World will be hoping to extend their winning to three in a row, while Team Europe will do everything to reclaim the title.

Carlos Alcaraz has declared that he will do everything for Team Europe to reclaim the Laver Cup title. For the past two years, Team World has had the upper hand against Team Europe, winning the title two consecutive times. In Berlin, Team Europe is aiming to win back the title.
Alcaraz won the French Open and Wimbledon this season. In August, he helped Spain win their only medal in tennis at the Paris Olympics. He has now taken the responsibility to make sure Team Europe wins in the upcoming tournament.

Alcaraz is certainly aiming to use the Laver Cup to build his confidence after suffering an early exit at the US Open. The Spaniard is looking forwards to winning his fourth title of the season at the China Open in Beijing.
