Spanish tennis ace Carlos Alcaraz is still facing problems with his forearm as the 20-year-old talked about it after getting knocked out from the Madrid Open following a defeat to Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinal. Alcaraz revealed that his forearm is not 100% fit yet but he is working hard to make it stronger than ever before the Rome Masters.

The Spaniard said that he felt discomfort in his forearm more during the quarterfinal than he felt during his fourth-round match where he played for over three hours. Alcaraz said that every time he hits a forehand, his mind goes to the forearm as he tries to understand how it feels.

The Spaniard said that it is a work in progress but he is leaving Madrid with a positive feeling. Alcaraz also admitted that he will have to put in some good work to make his forearm stronger than before.

Well, I have to keep going. Right now here in Madrid, while every time that I'm hitting the forehand, I'm thinking about the forearm, if I'm getting a feeling or not. I have to work hard these days if I want to go to Rome with good feelings, without pain, without thinking about my forearm, but it's gonna be a slow process, I guess.

Carlos Alcaraz dived deeper into his forearm injury problem and explained how it affected him during his match against Andrey Rublev. The two-time Grand Slam champion said that playing for three hours before the quarterfinal did affect him a bit.

Alcaraz said that not being able to play to his full potential affected his chances. Nevertheless, he promised to make a comeback at the Rome Masters. The 20-year-old is hopeful of working things out before the ATP Masters event kicks off in Italy. 

Well, yeah, today probably I felt more in the forearm than yesterday's match. I mean, playing three hours yesterday, I knew that I'm gonna feel something or I'm gonna think about it even more. But, you know, playing someone like Rublev that I couldn't push to the limit in every point is tough...But the point is that I'm gonna go to Rome. I'm going to work these days to be close to 100% or in a good way to play in Rome

Notably, Alcaraz lost to Rublev in three sets of 6-4, 3-6, 2-6. With this defeat, the Spaniard’s dream to win three consecutive titles in Madrid was shattered. Nevertheless, Alcaraz will be determined to make a roaring comeback in Rome. He has not had a great time at this tournament before but will be hoping to ride on his experience this year.
