Wimbledon defending champion Carlos Alcaraz has booked his spot in the 2024 Wimbledon Championships final after beating the in-form Daniil Medvedev. Despite trailing early in the match, he bounced back to win 6-7(1), 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 in two hours and 55 minutes.
The Spaniard took time to find his footing but managed to force the first set into a tiebreak, where Medvedev came out on top. Alcaraz then found his rhythm, hitting an array of shots and making light work of his opponent to level the tie.
With momentum on his side, Alcaraz reduced the unforced errors in his game and 14 winners to take the third set. The fourth set unraveled on similar lines, with the 21-year-old doing just enough to stay on top and emerge victorious.

After losing the first set, Carlos Alcaraz quickly made amends to ensure Danil Medvedev didn’t run away with the tie. By the end of the first set, he had 15 unforced eros and won only 48% of first-serve points.
While the Spaniard began to take control of the proceedings, there was an uncharacteristic increase in errors from Medvedev. Once the World No. 3 took the lead in the match, he worked hard to consolidate the lead and end the contest in four sets.
Alcaraz, who also defeated Medvedev in the Wimbledon semifinals last year, will next face either Novak Djokovic or Lorenzo Musetti.
