- Carlos Alcaraz is preparing for the Indian Wells Masters, aiming for his third title in the event.
- He has started the season strong, winning both the Australian Open and Qatar Open for the first time.
- Alcaraz's recent hairstyle changes have drawn attention, including a platinum blond transformation after a mishap with his brother.
Roast him or ridicule him, Carlos Alcaraz pays no heed to whosoever mocks his haircut. He instead will continue his experiments with hairstyles.
The Spaniard will next be seen in action at the Indian Wells Masters, the main draw of which is scheduled to start on March 1. Alcaraz will be chasing his third title in the Sunshine Doubles event, having won in 2023 and 2024 by beating 2021 US Open champion Daniil Medvedev.
The World No.1 is enjoying a purple patch like never before, as he got off to a strong start by winning both the Australian Open and the Qatar Open for the first time in his career. Last year at the US Open, Alcaraz produced perhaps his best Grand Slam performance, dropping a set only when he was up against Jannik Sinner in the final.
The Murcia native, however, did not only let his racket do the talking, as, even before entering the Arthur Ashe Stadium for his first-round match, the whole tennis world started talking about, well, his hairstyle. It was all thanks to his brother, Alvaro Alcaraz, who accidentally shaved off his hair because he did not know how to handle the machine properly. Frances Tiafoe kept staring at Alcaraz’s head and later jokingly called the haircut “terrible”.
After his win, the seven-time Grand Slam champion underwent a complete transformation, dying his hair platinum blond. Although he returned to his natural hair color for the Australian Open, Alcaraz, on Saturday (February 28), took to his Instagram and shared a picture from his visit to his barber, teasing another haircut.

Brett Haber thinks Carlos Alcaraz has gotten stronger since his split with Juan Carlos Ferrero
Many had wondered how Carlos Alcaraz would be able to handle his career after his split with Juan Carlos Ferrero, who had been on his team since 2019. Alcaraz and Ferrero ended their seven-year partnership due to failed contract negotiations.

But now, perhaps, no one is questioning the change in Alcaraz’s team, thanks to his two successful runs at the start of the season. Alcaraz clinched two titles, the Australian Open and the Qatar Open, for the first time in his career, by overcoming Novak Djokovic and breezing past Arthur Fils, respectively.
The win in the former event made him the youngest man in the Open Era to win seven Grand Slam titles, as well as complete the Career Grand Slam. On the women’s side, Elena Rybakina also won her career’s first title at Melbourne Park with a three-set win over Aryna Sabalenka, winning her second Major after the 2022 Wimbledon.
So when discussing which reigning Australian Open champion can win the upcoming Indian Wells title, tennis commentator Brett Haber picked Alcaraz, before giving his verdict on the Alcaraz-Ferrero split. He told Tennis Channel:
Carlos Alcaraz. No offense to Elena Rybakina, who could easily win Indian Wells as well, but Carlitos looks like the clear favorite to win every tournament he enters. Brimming with confidence, Alcaraz has only gotten stronger since splitting with coach Juan Carlos Ferrero and has considerably increased the gap between himself and even No. 2 Jannik Sinner—an especially notable development given the Italian has zero points to defend for the next two months.
The 22-year-old failed to complete the three-peat at Indian Wells last year, losing to Jack Draper in the semifinals. He also suffered a shock opening-round exit at the Miami Open, losing to David Goffin. Rybakina, the winner at Indian Wells in 2023 (beat Sabalenka), lost to eventual champion Mirra Andreeva in the fourth round last year. She was last seen in action at the Dubai Open, where she handed the walkover to Antonia Ruzic in the round of 16.
