Carlos Alcaraz's idol Rafael Nadal seems to be the most affected by the Valencia floods as his academy was surrounded by storm and water.

Carlos Alcaraz is currently competing at the Paris-Bercy Masters 1000 while Spain mourns nearly a hundred lives lost due to the recent DANA storm. The young player is aware of the pain many are feeling, especially those far from home.
In an interview with the French media outlet Cà Vous, Alcaraz expressed his support and love for the victims affected in southeastern Spain. He is set to face Ugo Humbert in the Round of 16, but his thoughts remain with those struggling back home.
I am a well-known Spanish screw, I can make my voice heard. I will try to help as much as possible, to lend a hand, to the extent of my abilities. It is a rather complicated time, not only for the provinces concerned, but for the whole of Spain. Everything happened very quickly. I saw photos, videos, what was said. And the truth is that it is difficult for any citizen, for any Spaniard. Obviously, we do not yet know the consequences, how many dead, missing… I feel very close to all this and it hurts me as if I were from this city.

Rafael Nadal, Alcaraz’s idol, is also feeling the effects of the storm. Nadal’s academy, which he opened in October 2016 in Mallorca, has suffered significant damage from the flooding. Recent images show the facility covered in debris, and the ground staff has been working tirelessly to restore it.

Nadal has always been vocal about the challenges faced by his country during tough times. He previously spoke out during the COVID-19 pandemic when his academy was forced to close. His commitment to helping those in need continues to make a positive impact in the community, especially during this current crisis.
What can Carlos Alcaraz achieve in the rest of 2024?
World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz has enjoyed the best season of his career in 2024. Although he didn’t retain his No. 1 ranking, the Spaniard won two Grand Slams in a season for the first time in his career.

With practically three tournaments left in the calendar year, Alcaraz has the opportunity to create more storylines in his career. He is currently competing for his first Paris Masters title. A win in Paris would make him only the third player, after Andre Agassi and Novak Djokovic, to win both Roland Garros and the Paris Masters in the same season.
After the Paris Masters, there is the Nitto ATP Finals. Alcaraz reached the semifinals last year, losing to the eventual champion Djokovic. With the Serbian not in sight this year, the Spaniard could have a potential title-deciding match against Jannik Sinner.
Alongside these two tournaments, there is the Davis Cup, which will be Rafael Nadal’s final tournament. Alcaraz has the chance to give his idol a perfect farewell by winning his first Davis Cup for Spain and the country’s seventh overall.
