Carmella is one of the superstars who is currently out of action due to maternity leave. Although she gave birth several months ago, her WWE return was halted due to an injury afterward. The former Women’s Champion shared her experiences in an interview, discussing being in labor for 60 hours after multiple miscarriages.
While speaking with Chris Van Vliet, Carmella stated that she had been waiting for the moment she went into labor for a long time. The 36-year-old star also shared that she took every class and exercised every day to prepare for labor and delivery. However, it didn’t go as they had planned, which ultimately became an agonizing experience for her.
The Staten Island Princess further added that, as a wrestler, she knew how to tolerate more pain, which is why she was ready to go into labor. Although it was a very long and painful experience for her, in the end, everyone was healthy. Mella last wrestled on the March 6 episode of Raw last year, when she suffered a loss against Bianca Belair. Since then, she has been out of action due to her real-life pregnancy.
It was just such a long, long experience, and it was honestly just very defeating because I spent my entire pregnancy preparing for labor and delivery. it just didn’t go the way I planned, and it just took so long, and it felt like it was never-ending. But ultimately, at the end of the day, everyone was healthy. So that’s all that matters!Carmella via the Chris Van Vliet Show
When she spoke with Nikki and Brie Garcia on their show, Carmella opened up about joining WWE and wrestling soon. Ms. Money in the Bank wanted to prove to herself that she could endure the experience of labor and return to in-ring action. However, she admitted that she had noticed significant changes in her body and was suffering from drop foot since giving birth.
Carmella opened up about the time she teamed up with R-Truth
Although already established as a prominent singles star, Carmella decided to team up with WWE legend R-Truth. They participated in the Mixed Match Challenge and won the tournament in 2018. The duo remained friends the following year and won multiple 24/7 titles during their years as allies. The 36-year-old star shared what it was like to work with the current WWE World Tag Team Champion.
While speaking in the same interview, Carmella described him as a fun person to be around. She stated that, even though they were not on screen, they shared many hilarious moments together. The former Women’s Champion further mentioned that they often incorporated things that weren’t in the script. Fans loved their chemistry and enjoyed their dance during the 7-second dance break.
I just loved being paired with R-Truth. He is such a treasure and he’s such a good person and so fun to be around. It was just full-on shenanigans all the time, whether the cameras were rolling or they weren’t.Carmella on working with R-Truth via the Chris Van Vliet show
R-Truth won the WWE World Tag Team Championship with The Miz at WrestleMania XL. Despite facing much stronger teams, they have somehow managed to secure victory in the most unconventional ways. Recently, they retained their title against dangerous opponents in the form of The Authors of Pain.
