Damian Lillard and Carmelo Anthony

It has been very difficult to get past Philadelphia 76ers when Embiid has been in full-swing. But in the Sixers’ latest matchup against the Trail Blazers, Joel Embiid’s game-high score did not make any difference. Carmelo Anthony commenced his magic in the 4th quarter, wherein he scored 16 of his season-high 24 points. Sixers’ Coach Doc Rivers knew what his team was facing once when Carmelo Anthony started with his ‘A’ game.
Damian Lillard was another key player for the Trail Blazers in the game against the Sixers and he surely didn’t disappoint. The most clutch player since 2012-13, led his team with 30 points. Whereas Joel Embiid led the 76ers with 35 points and nine rebounds, and Ben Simmons added 23 points and 11 boards. The loss snapped a four-game road winning streak.

“I thought tonight was just one of those games where we felt like we had to win the game,” Carmelo Anthony said as per ESPN. “I got hot in the fourth quarter and made some shots, got a great rhythm, gave our team a different spark, some momentum, some energy, and we won the game. We know how important this game was for us, going up against the top team in the East.”
After a back-and-forth game, the 76ers held the edge going into the final period but Anthony hit three consecutive 3-pointers to give the Blazers a 102-97 lead with 8:28 left.
The Eastern Conference-leading Sixers had won six of seven, with the only defeat during that span coming a week ago to the Trail Blazers, 121-105. It was just the second loss at home for Philadelphia.
