WWE did hit a home run with the way John Cena duped Cody Rhodes into believing that they were on the same page. Then, on cue with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Cena went low on Rhodes and turned heel. Houston-born rapper Travis Scott was in cahoots with the two Hollywood moguls. He smacked the WWE Champion right across his face.

The unrestrained slap wasn’t gimmicked at all as Scott leaned into it. Unfortunately, it ruptured Cody’s eardrum, and Travis is facing the music from all corners. NBA great Carmelo Anthony addressed La Flame’s latest WWE appearance while speaking on his 7PM in Brooklyn podcast.

The 10x NBA All-Star condemned Scott’s whiplashing of Rhodes. Melo further asserted that if he were Rhodes, he would’ve handed Trav a receipt for his deeds right there. The retired hoopster’s co-host relayed that The Rock had told his rapper friend to make the slap look good on TV.

Anthony wasn’t buying any of it, and he stood his ground. The three-time Olympic gold medalist opined that nobody deserves to be beaten up like Rhodes was made to. Melo asked Scott to first learn how to slap someone without risking their well-being.

A footage later surfaced on social media capturing Scott’s live reaction after going too hard on The American Nightmare. WWE CCO Triple H, via X, posted a clip in which one could see Travis was running high on adrenaline. The FE!N composer was caught saying he’d set up a wrestling ring in every place he calls home.

WWE’s plans for Cody Rhodes’ with John Cena and The Rock

It’s been just about two weeks since Cody Rhodes was struck by a brick wall at Elimination Chamber. He explained during a follow-up promo on SmackDown having gone through the pain of explaining his physical condition to a four-year-old.

Travis Scott’s open-arm assault had left Rhodes with a black eye. When his daughter, Liberty, asked her dad about it, Cody had to brush it off with a lie. The Prodigal Son denied The Rock’s offer of being his champion in some fashion when he told The Final Boss to “go f**k yourself.”

WrestleVotes has reported that WWE has given the green light to dispense merchandise with that NSFW phrase. Additionally, it’d be accommodated with the American Nightmare logo. The same outlet is claiming that WWE plans on calling John Cena‘s unholy alliance with The Final Boss—The Rock and The Soul Connection.

However, the idea is merely discussed and isn’t by any means official. Also, the pairing is expected to be heavily promoted en route to WrestleMania 41. At the said PLE, Cody will defend his Undisputed WWE title against Cena. This dream match had been long rumored. However, the dynamics of the feud will be unprecedented.

The Rock is optimistic about Travis Scott’s WWE future

After shocking the world in the closing moments of the Toronto-hosted PLE, The Rock opened himself up to media associates. During the post-show presser, The Great One was asked about Travis Scott‘s in-ring future with WWE. The Black Adam star outright gave it away that it’s been already discussed.

Rock’s comments about the $80 million-worth artist fall in line with Fightful‘s report claiming that Travis has trained to wrestle. It does seem like a scenario of when he steps into a WWE ring to compete rather than if he would. Scott recently launched his merchandise in collaboration with WWE.

The T-shirt features a scratch WWE logo with an all-black background. Scott’s partners-in-crime, viz., Rock and Cena, are on a mission to make Cody Rhodes‘ life a living hell. It’d be interesting to see if Travis pops up on WWE programming once again. The 33-year-old does have backstage heat for messing up Rhodes’ eardrum.
