Carmelo Anthony is expecting Giannis Antetokounmpo to make a move anytime soon. The two-time league MVP is currently in his 13th season with the Milwaukee Bucks after being drafted as the 15th overall pick by the franchise.
It is not a secret anymore that Giannis Antetokounmpo wants to leave the Bucks. The forward has grown tired of the club’s management lack of ambition in putting together a roster for Antetokounmpo to compete for a championship. Antetokounmpo, who just turned 31, is seemingly wasting the prime years of his career in Milwaukee.
After the trade of Damian Lillard back to Portland in the offseason, Antetokounmpo requested for a trade to the New York Knicks. As the move did not materialize, the Greek decided to stay for another season to get traded. But he seems to be running out of patience as the Bucks are currently placed at 10th in the Eastern Conference standings with a 10-13 record.
What makes it difficult is that Antentokounmpo has played at an MVP so far this season as he is averaging 28.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 6.1 assists. But even with Antentokounmpo on the court, the Bucks are 9-8 while without their leader they are an abysmal 1-5.
With no support and championship-caliber players within the squad, it is best for both parties to separate soon as the franchise can try to get the most they can get by trading Antentokounmpo while the Greek can fight for his second NBA title.
Every team in the league that has championship aspirations will try to make a move for Antentokounmpo. But former NBA star, Carmelo Anthony, has other ideas. He suggested that Sam Presti, who is the General Manager of the defending champions, Oklahoma City Thunder, to make a move for the “Greek Freak”, which would turn the league upside down.
If Giannis is saying get me to New York then you make the trade. You figure it out. But if he ain’t saying get me to New York, there’s other opportunities man. You wanna talk about OKC putting a deal together who’s under the first apron? If you really wanna f*** the game up. Aye Sam Presti.

Anthony does make a good point. The OKC, for all their talent and dominance, are one of the few clubs in the league that have enough assets to pull the trade off. A move that could send shivers down to the rest of the league for years to come.
Teams that could make a move for Giannis Antentokounmpo
A player of Antentokounmpo’s level and caliber are rare in the league. The forward has almost won it all in the league, including the Finals MVP in their 2021 championship season. After the blockbuster Luka Doncic–Anthony Davis deal last season that sent shockwaves throughout the NBA, Antentokounmpo’s move could have a similar effect despite the trade being expected.
While Antentokounmpo wants a move to the Knicks, there are other clubs that would like to propose a few deals which could interest the Bucks, as they look to elevate their chances for a championship.
Atlanta Hawks could be an option as they move on from Trae Young as the face of the franchise. Another team in the east could be the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs have been impressive in the regular season over the last three years but have struggled to make any impact in the playoffs. A move for Antentokounmpo could change that.
While Los Angeles superstar, Luka Doncic, had enquired about the Greek forward during the offseason, it does not look like a move can take place as the Lakers may not have enough assets to sway the Bucks. And of course as mentioned earlier, the OKC. One of the few teams who have enough players and picks to sway Milwaukee.
Carmelo Anthony on Chris Paul’s current situation
The NBA can be quite unforgiving when it comes to trades and deals. Chris Paul, who had returned to the Clippers for his second stint, was cut off from the club on Wednesday, much to the surprise of many including Paul. Paul is arguably one of the greatest players to ever play for the franchise but the guard has been left without a club in his farewell season.

Anthony sounded off on the Clippers for the way the whole situation was handled.
Imagine CP right now. He’s embarrassed that my own organization that I brought back to relevance is shi***** on me. We ain’t talking about what I’m doing right now or what have you done for me lately, you f***** with my legacy now. This is the f***** up side of the sport. You should treat that with a level of respect.

The reality of the league is that majority of the times, the decisions are made by the franchises with the players not having much of a say. But for Paul, it was different as he was looking to end his career in the club where he spent some of his best years in.
