Carmelo Anthony expects Ja Morant to be Team USA star in 2028 Olympics
Team USA had the likes of LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry leading the way. But after the Paris Olympics, there is little doubt that the trio will play in the 2028 games. With the onus shifting to the younger guns, it is evident who those players will be to wear the stars and stripes in four year’s time.
That said, 3-time gold medal winner Carmelo Anthony thinks the NBA world is ignoring one young star. The former All-Star was talking with his co-host and guest on the podcast, 7PM in Brooklyn. When the topic of Team USA’s future came up, they collectively discussed the same.
You still got Ja. People have forgotten all about Ja. ‘They sleeping on him’. That Ja USA jersey, that’s like the A.I. jersey. That Ja jersey, ‘Bro that s**t’s gonna be in 38 rap videos’. Ja, Ant, like Tatum, ‘doing they thing’. I would love to see Ja getting another opportunity.
Carmelo Anthony and others stated
Anthony thinks Ja Morant will be an instant hit if he donned the Team USA jersey. So much so that fans will mop up that merchandise after he explodes in the coming years. Carmelo Anthony feels the Memphis Grizzlies superstar will dominate the NBA going forward. So much so that he could be in the running to be the most popular player in the league. Even battling the likes of Anthony Edwards and Jayson Tatum to be the face of the NBA.
After all this time off, he will be rejuvenated and eager to prove people wrong. People almost wrote him off after his off-court issues. But there is no question of his unreal ability to play basketball. A brilliant 4 years and Team USA should come calling for the 2028 Olympics.
Carmelo Anthony wants Ja Morant to fix his image first
Anthony’s co-host The Kid Mero suggested that the Memphis Grizzlies superstar has been ignored.
I don't think they sleeping on him. It's what have you done for me lately. And the last thing you done for me was some wild s**t. You still gotta come up out of that. People haven't seen you like come up out of that yet.Carmelo Anthony replied
That is, Carmelo Anthony knows the NBA and Team USA will want to see how Ja Morant changes his image. That image brought the league and basketball into a bad light. The 25-year-old has faced the justice system and criticism from media and fans. Now, he has reportedly changed his old entourage in a bid to change his image. That image led to suspensions and showed him in a bad light. Eventually costing him a lot in cancelled endorsements.
If he does actually change his image, he will eventually gain back that lost face. His ability with a basketball is incredible. Coupled with a clean image, the basketball world will be there to cheer for him.
