WWE is known for treating its live audience with special content that takes place after the cameras have stopped rolling and is only available for the crowd. These generally include dark matches, promos, or crowd interactions. However, the latest episode of Raw featured an interesting story progression involving Cody Rhodes and Carmelo Hayes.
The latest episode of Raw ended with a heated confrontation between Rhodes and CM Punk. After the show went off the air, Hayes ambushed the WWE Undisputed Champion. The crowd was shocked. To add insult to injury, this episode emanated from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, the American Nightmare’s hometown. He then picked up a microphone and announced himself for the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble match. However, he wasn’t done yet.
Hayes pulled out a table, set it up in the ring, and looked like he was about to brutalize Cody Rhodes. However, the 39-year-old was able to fight back and hit his attacker with a Cross Rhodes. Furthermore, he hit the former NXT Champion with a powerbomb through the table. Regardless, Melo seemed happy with his actions and even posted footage of this incident on X.

These two superstars do have some history on the main roster. When Hayes first got drafted to the blue brand, he called his shot against Rhodes and faced him in the main event of that episode. Although he ended up losing that match, it was still a great showing for the rookie. Since then, they have fought each other multiple times. They had another match two months ago on SmackDown. Furthermore, they even took each other on in a dark match after Raw, as recently as last week.
Is Carmelo Hayes being drafted to Raw?
The WWE Transfer Window is one of the most ambiguous things going on in the promotion right now. The company has not announced a deadline for this window, nor has it announced who is eligible. However, there are still some transfers being made, and it seems like Carmelo Hayes might be a potential candidate for a change.
Over the past few weeks, Hayes has had a few altercations with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, none of which went his way. The former NXT Champion even said that if he isn’t respected on the blue brand, he will utilize the transfer window to move over to Raw.
This change of scenery could really benefit the 30-year-old. He did not have much success going after the United States Championship and has since been floating around aimlessly on the blue brand. Moving over to Raw could allow him to face a whole different roster of talent. Furthermore, he and Bron Breakker could even run back the incredible matches they had during their time on the developmental brand.
