Carmelo Hayes and Andrade put on a barn-burner of a match on SmackDown.

This week’s SmackDown from Omaha featured a singles match between Carmelo Hayes and Andrade. It was their first meeting on the main roster, and they didn’t disappoint. In fact, the two hoopers went on to have a clinic, with El Edolo denying Hayes a much-needed win. The latter, obviously upset at the outcome, took to X to show where he’s at mentally despite biting the dust.
He wrote that losers lose. However, he’s never been one despite not winning, added the 29-year-old SmackDown tyro. It has been a rough few weeks for Carmelo Hayes. Despite giving Cody Rhodes a run for his money on the first night of this year’s WWE Draft, Melo seems like he’s lost a step ever since. He’s been quite exotic with his win/loss track record on the blue brand.
Carmelo’s foe this week, Andrade, is the one with whom he stole a march over his fellow participants in the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match earlier this month. The two men risked their all, albeit the result didn’t land in either’s favor. They seemingly picked up some bad blood over there. And with their match on SmackDown last night exceeding expectations, the fans want to see more of it.

In the post-show interview with Byron Saxton, Andrade didn’t miss out on giving a shout-out to Hayes for a stellar performance. The Mexican wrestler said that The A-Champion has a bright future here in WWE. With that being said, it might be time for the former AEW star to move on to bigger things on the blue brand. On the other side, Melo needs to figure out his next step before his hype fizzles out.
What else happened on this week’s SmackDown?
A lot went down on the latest edition of Friday Night SmackDown. Cody Rhodes kicked things off when he addressed Solo Sikoa‘s last week’s actions along with The Bloodline. The Undisputed WWE Champion also mentioned Randy Orton as his brother after the beating he sustained merely days ago.
Afterwards, in a squash match, Bianca Belair made light work of Chelsea Green. Later, Women’s Tag Team Champions Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn challenged Belair and her tag team partner, Jade Cargill. LA Knight also got his wish fulfilled as Logan Paul signed the contract to make their US title match official for SummerSlam.
Tiffany Stratton succumbed to Mia Yim following a run-in from Bayley. The latter also destroyed Stratton’s Money in the Bank contract. In the main event, Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens defeated A-Town Down Under. However, the babyfaces were once again rattled by The Bloodline to close out the show.
