Cody Rhodes was in a bad mood last night on SmackDown. After a heated confrontation with Kevin Owens, The American Nightmare ran into the ‘cocky’ Carmelo Hayes. The two stars were involved in a backstage altercation, leading to a bitter segment on the show. However, following his heated interaction with Rhodes, Hayes broke his silence by revealing that he received advice from CM Punk last night.
Taking it to X, Hayes stated that Punk advised him how to never lose a backstage brawl in his career. It was a reference to the infamous All In and All Outs brawls involving The Best in the World that eventually paved the way for his WWE return. Given the animosity of those brawls, the 30-year-old could be hinting at such an altercation with Rhodes in the future.

Rhodes looked quite upset following his rugged interaction with The Prizefighter on SmackDown. Hayes then agitated the Undisputed WWE Champion at the worst possible time. Also, WWE did not waste any time to capitalize on this heated argument, as the two stars are set to go one-on-one next week on Friday.

Furthermore, the former NXT Champion has been having an incredible run on the main roster so far. He has already faced Rhodes earlier this year on SmackDown, where he took the champion to his limits. It will be interesting how The American Nightmare plans to tackle Hayes with the threat of Kevin Owens looming large in WWE.

Before Cody Rhodes ran into Carmelo Hayes backstage on SmackDown, Kevin Owens issued a stern warning to him. The two stars engaged in an incredible war of words, during which The Prizefighter detailed his explanation on why he turned his back on The American Nightmare.
Owens claimed that his attack on Randy Orton was nothing in comparison to what he plans to do with Rhodes. He admitted that he loved Orton despite the fact that he decimated his neck. However, in the case of the Undisputed WWE Champion, Owens said that he despises him deeply.
The Canadian superstar also added that he has no hesitation in facing Rhodes, planting seeds for a potential clash at Saturday Night’s Main Event. With such a bold choice of words, Owens has declared war against the 39-year-old. While the timeline for the showdown is not determined yet, it is certain to be one for the ages.
