This week’s SmackDown featured a banger match between two rising stars of the brand. To set up the tone for the show, two former NXT Champions battled it out to prove supremacy. Carmelo Hayes and Andrade, who have been at loggerheads for more than a month, once again collided, and the former achieved his first victory in the trilogy.

Following the match on SmackDown Exclusive, Carmelo Hayes had an interview backstage with Byron Saxton. The interviewer asked him about what happened after the match, to which the former NXT Champion responded by bragging about himself. He said he had finally defeated El Idolo, even though the whole world was against him. Hayes was confident, as he promised to climb the ladder of success on the main roster as well.

Let’s talk about what happened during the match. Let’s talk about what happened at the end of the match. Andrade, I beat your b**ch a**, one-two-three, in the middle of the ring. The whole world said I couldn’t do it. - I said ‘Melo can’t miss this one, ‘Melo won’t miss this one, and ‘Melo didn’t freaking miss this one.'

For context, the moment the 30-year-old picked up the victory, he started celebrating it in the ring. He went on gloating about himself, which triggered Andrade and turned into a brawl. WWE officials came out to the ring to separate the two. Both stars wanted to get their hands on each other even after the match was over.

It was clearly a hint that this rivalry is not over yet. With the former United States Champion having two successful victories, it is likely that Melo will go up against him one more time. After all, he has been on a losing streak for a while now. This was a huge win for him to revitalize his SmackDown career yet again.

Former WWE personality voiced his opinion on Carmelo Hayes

Carmelo Hayes is a rising star in WWE. He has witnessed tremendous growth in NXT, and many consider him to be the future of WWE. There are a number of dream matches for the former NXT Champion, including one with John Cena. However, former WWE personality Matt Camp thinks Hayes is too early to face the Greatest of All Time yet.

Speaking on the Wrestling Matt podcast, Matt Camp said that Cena should not be wasting his time on stars such as Carmelo. He added that the Cenation Leader has got time to celebrate his retirement tour, and it should be around stars who are already established. Therefore, a star like Hayes is not yet ready to square off against Cena.

Cena and Carmelo, no, please don't waste a date on Carmelo Hayes. He ain't even close. He ain't even in the ballpark. If you got a year of Cena and he's gonna be around, I'm okay with some of the guys he's never faced off with and maybe put, okay... I don't think we got time for that. And I'm not saying it's gotta be a full nostalgia tour either.

This statement hurts the credibility of the 30-year-old Superstar. Many consider him to be the next face of WWE. However, it seems Camp has some differences of opinion. The former NXT Champion has not yet reacted to this. It is going to be interesting to see if he will be able to prove Matt wrong or not.
