Just like every NFL player growing up, Carson Wentz also had his favorite franchise. It so happens that he finally was able to don those colors when he signed with the Minnesota Vikings this past offseason.

The famous ‘Skol’ chant was a part of his family, as they had a strong fandom towards the franchise. Growing up in North Dakota, the entire family would sit around and watch Vikings games.

That is why when the former No. 2 overall pick decided to sign with the franchise, his brother, Zach Wentz, sent a message with the Skol chant in it, as his brother just fulfilled a childhood dream.

Now, that same franchise has seemingly undermined him. Their decisions over the past few games have now forced the 32-year-old to have surgery on his shoulder, effectively ending his season.

After NFL Insider Ian Rapoport revealed the initial news about the surgery, he then went on to detail what happened to Carson Wentz over the past few weeks.

Details on Carson Wentz: In the first half of the London game, Wentz suffered a dislocation that tore his labrum and fractured the socket, per The Insiders. He gutted out 2.5 more games for the Vikings with a big stabilizing brace, while JJ McCarthy (high-ankle) recovered.

This means the Vikings’ coaching staff kept the Super Bowl LII-winning quarterback on the field purposely, even though he had already suffered those injuries.

After landing on that same shoulder during their loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, the pain seemed to have aggravated enough for him to end his season.

Fans call out Vikings coaches for aggravating Carson Wentz’s injuries

After seeing how Carson Wentz reacted after his injury, football fans were expecting some sort of news that could see him miss a few games. However, this news about the way the Minnesota Vikings used him felt like a bolt out of nowhere.

Coaches generally try to do their best to keep their players out of harm’s way. Now, fans believe that logic does not apply to Kevin O’Connell and his staff.

Fans believe that in their efforts to protect JJ McCarthy, they have sacrificed the veteran QB, who was more than ecstatic to be a backup on his childhood team.

Fans are now asking if the coaching staff should face some sort of punishment. Check out examples of those reactions below:

Carson Wentz will miss the season and does not know if he will ever play for his favorite team again. Next season, he will again have to find a job as a backup QB.

I talked the entire game about how impressive it was that he was playing through a lot of pain and mentioned several times how mentally and physically tough he was-all I said was he can’t throw his helmet and it was a bad look. That’s it. Doesn’t take anything away from all the great things we said about him all night. Just was surprised to see that from him. That’s it.

The ESPN commentator’s words suggest he is not changing his criticism of the QB’s actions. He reiterated that he did talk about Wentz sacrificing his body for the team.
