However, Alcaraz began to get back some confidence at the Davis Cup Group, phase helping Spain clinch their quarterfinal ticket. In Berlin for the Laver Cup, he looked confident playing his best tennis in the past two months, leading Team Europe to their fifth title.

It’s great, obviously, we came here with a goal, all of us, that is to win the Laver Cup. We almost lost, but Sascha (Alex Zverev) came with really good tennis and gave me the chance to win the Laver Cup, so I think we are really, really happy with everything.

Alcaraz will hope to continue with his form at the China Open in Beijing which gets underway on September 26. He reached the semifinals of the tournament last year and lost to eventual champion Jannik Sinner in straight sets.
