Casper Ruud has become a phenomenal star in the ATP this season, especially since reaching the Monte Carlo Masters final.
Back on the court at the Barcelona Open and still playing well, the Norwegian coach Pedro Clar was caught in a video giving the World No. 6 some specific instructions that happened immediately.
In Ruud’s opening match against French Alexander Muller, the 25-year-old began on the wrong foot and was already 2-0 down in the first set. While still grappling with Muller’s serve, his coach Pedro Clar was at his back, encouraging him. In Muller’s third serve, Clar told the Norwegian what to expect.
Get ready for the serve volley, Yeah! Come on.Clar said to Ruud
Muller played the serve-volley immediately, but Ruud couldn’t return as his forehand went out of the baseline. The commentators were left amazed by how much Clar had done his homework about Muller’s style of play, and it didn’t take too long before Ruud began to display his clay masterclass.
He rallied from two points down to beat Muller 6-3 in the first set, winning five break points and two serves. In the second set, despite Muller reacting early after succumbing to a disappointing first set ending, Ruud was too good for the Frenchman, winning the game 6-3, 6-4 to earn his place in the third round.
Besides that, Clar is part of his coaching team with his father, Christian Ruud. Clar is a very experienced clay master. A graduate of the Rafa Nadal Academy, he has always led Ruud during the clay season, which has seen him achieve amazing success over the years.
Casper Ruud is still fixed on winning a Slam or Masters title this season
Despite losing to Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Monte Carlo Masters final, Casper Ruud still has his sights set on a Grand Slam and a Masters.

The 25-year-old has never won any title above the ATP 250 trophy, even though he boasts of two French Open finals. This season, he has reached two finals and is hoping to secure a ‘big title’ soon.
Sometimes when I think about it, more things than I thought was possible in my career, but by doing that you also want to chase and push for even more. Obviously, a Grand Slam or ATP [Masters] 1000 is the next, big dream, a big goal of mine.Casper Ruud said
The Norwegian is competing at the ATP 500 tournament in Barcelona and is hoping to win the title, despite the comeback of tennis icon Rafael Nadal.
