He joined the New York Yankees in 2009 and played a huge part in the team’s 27th World Series title. Sabathia retired in 2019 and finished with a 251-161 record while having 3,093 strikeouts and a career ERA of 3.74.

After his official announcement, Sabathia took to his X account to celebrate. In a post, he dropped a nine-word message.

Sabathia and Suzuki shared the locker room of the Yankees for three seasons. They two went head-to-head in the AL Rookie of the Year award in 2001 which Suzuki won. He even won the AL MVP award as the Seattle Mariners finished with a 116-46.

Taking to his X account, the 44-year-old brought up the 2001 ROTY award race. He hilariously claimed that Suzuki “stole” that accomplishment from him.

Ichiro stole that 2001 AL Rookie of the Year from me but it’s a full circle moment to enter the Hall of Fame with you brother.
