More Dallas Cowboys drama. This time between former Cowboys wide receiver Cole Beasly and current star CeeDee Lamb.

The Oklahoma graduate is no stranger to criticism. Despite his excellent 2023 numbers – breaking previous Cowboys records, fans still judge him based on his underwhelming playoff performances, especially the debacle against the Green Bay Packers earlier this year.

On Friday night, Lamb fired a warning shot at Cole Beasly claiming that he could match the 35-year-old in every route.

I don’t need 180 targets to touch a band. Pull up tape, I’d match you route for route on getting open.

What happened between Cole Beasly and CeeDee Lamb?

The social media beef started after Blogging with the Boys’ writer Brandon Lore shared a workout video of Lamb. In the short clip, the 25-year-old can be seen doing exercises that help receivers get better with their explosiveness on the gridiron.

Beasly came across the clip on X and retweeted advising Lamb to ditch box jumps and Dumble bench-ups and focus on hitting heavy squats.

A fan asked Beasly if was he trying to guide CeeDee Lamb who has had a far better career compared to him. Even though they conceded that Beasly was a great route runner during his NFL days but never managed to cross the 1000 receiving yards barrier. On the contrary, Lamb barring his rookie year eclipsed 1000 yards each of the last three seasons.

This comparison did not sit well with Beasly who posted a reply. According to him, stats don’t always tell the whole story. He wanted the fan to look at his tape, which would prove that he was a capable receiver in his prime.

Give me 180 targets off the couch and I eclipse 1000. Stop looking at stats and check the tape. As far as getting open goes…I’m confident I did that with the best of them.
Cole Beasly wrote.

Now it’s important to note here, that the SMU graduate did not compare himself to Lamb while making his case. He only made a case for himself. However, Lamb perhaps failed to realize that and took it as a challenge. No wonder the former first-round pick got agitated with his remarks.

Beasly tried his best for damage control claiming his aim wasn’t to rile Lamb up.

I never said you did. Just some perspective for the fans.
Beasly replied in Lamb’s tweet.

Regardless, this is no time for Lamb to get himself entangled in an online battle of wits. 2024 will be the final season before his Cowboys contract comes to an end. So far he has avoided both OTAs and the mandatory mini-camp and declared he will continue to remain absent until there’s further development.
