Dak Prescott has just become the highest paid player in NFL history. This resolves the contract dispute the quarterback and the Dallas Cowboys have been trying to solve for the past several months. More than anything, it brings stability to the team as owner Jerry Jones pointed out. For his wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, it came as a relief.
The All-Pro WR was speaking on Up & Adams via video conference. When host Kay Adams asked him about the entire situation entailing his own contract extension and whether he was thinking about his quarterback, he breathed a sigh of relief.
We were texting quite a bit. Obviously, I missed being out there competing with him, fixing our little nuances throughout the offseason. I want what's best for Dak and vice versa. So, shout out to him for getting that bag too. I didn't want to start over and I don't wanna go through the whole quarterback carousel situation.CeeDee Lamb said
Lamb is relieved that Dak Prescott got his extension, or else he would have to adjust to working with another quarterback. That is a pain most players do not want to go through. Especially when it is two of the most important positions on offense. Their timing, their communication, everything has to be spot on if they are to succeed.
CeeDee Lamb confirms Dak Prescott is leader of the Cowboys
Continuing his conversation with Kay Adams, CeeDee Lamb reiterated what their owner Jerry Jones spoke about recently. He hailed Dak Prescott‘s leadership.
He's the leader of this team. Everything goes to Dak. He has the keys to the offense he has the keys to how we move and how we present ourselves. He does a great job of keeping a great look on himself, keeping his composure, mentally being locked in, and leading us to the promised land.CeeDee Lamb said
Lamb is the second Dallas Cowboys personnel to confirm that Dak Prescott is the leader of this team. That itself speaks highly of what the All-Pro quarterback has managed to do in his 9 years with this team.
Jerry Jones had publicly stated that he gave Prescott the largest average salary in NFL history, as he wanted his team’s leader to continue. A leader is important for any sports franchise, and it will be much better if that player also holds the most important position on the team.
Now, with almost everyone confirmed for the near future, Lamb and Prescott can go about trying to fulfill their side of the bargain. They want to bring the Super Bowl back to America’s team together with their teammates.
