The Dallas Cowboys played a game of chicken with their star players, CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott. They waited and waited, tarrying with the contract negotiations, but in the end, both guys signed away historic deals.
The unstoppable duo inked their deals with the Cowboys one after another. Lamb was the first one to secure a deal, signing away a four-year, $136m deal after a long contract saga filled with cryptic and blunt Instagram digs. He became the second-highest wide receiver in the league after the deal. On the other hand, Prescott waited almost till the regular season opener when he received a $240 million deal which made him the highest-paid player in NFL history.
As the Cowboys defeated the Cleveland Browns 33-17 in the first game, both were gleaming after their secured positions and a Week 1 win. Prescott concluded with 19-of-31 for 179 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions. Meanwhile, Lamb caught five passes for 61 yards, averaging 12.2 yards per catch, and also gained 25 yards on the ground with three carries.
In light of this, Lamb said that he knew Prescott would receive a contract and that he was locked in. He further added that the deal propelled them to play better, something that proved true on Sunday. Lamb also mentioned that it felt good to put this whole saga behind them.
We were already flying in with the . . . I want to say ‘intent,’ that he was gonna be our quarterback and that the deal was gonna get done, but that kinda just propelled us to new heights, if you will. Shoutout Dak, he’s definitely deserved of the contract. Just able to put all that behind us and actually go play ball.Lamb said, via CBSSports.com.
However, Micah Parsons is yet to receive any intimation on his contract extension from GM and owner Jerry Jones. Unless acted upon by an external motivating factor, Parsons might need to wait till the next off-season. Despite this, he has said that he will remain with the Cowboys no matter what.
CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott communicated frequently during contract talks
Lamb voiced his desire to stay with Prescott, highlighting the importance of having a constant quarterback. He recognized the challenges of starting over with a new quarterback. Furthermore, he said Prescott plays a huge role in guiding the team’s offense and overall performance.

I didn't want to start over and I don't wanna go through the whole quarterback carousel situation.Lamb said.

The WR also said that he and Prescott stayed in touch throughout the contract saga, keeping each other updated via texting. Lamb was confident that Prescott would don the Cowboy jersey this coming season. Lamb was adamant to keep the quarterback as he has bonded with him and believed in Prescott’s leadership and personality.
The Cowboys will gear up against New Orleans Saints who are fresh off a huge win against the Carolina Panthers as they play at home for the first time. The Cowboys-Saints game might be affected by the tropical storm Francine as the teams will need to pivot their practices.
