After how the Dallas Cowboys delayed offering CeeDee Lamb a worthy extension, it seems the star wide receiver is hesitant to accept the first offer he got, no matter how lucrative it may be. That’s why, despite being offered the $33 million a year, he has rejected it.

According to The Dallas Morning News’ Calvin Watkins, the Cowboys had approached Lamb with a lucrative $33 million per year offer via phone, which would have made him one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the league, right below Justin Jefferson with $35 million annually. However, an NFL Insider revealed that both Cowboys and Lamb are yet to sign the deal on the table and are highly unlikely to do so.

Coming off his third Pro Bowl season, Lamb has reportedly some concerns relating to the guaranteed money and cash flow of the offered contract extension. Therefore, he wants the team to look over the contract again and increase the average annual salary. After everything that happened this offseason, which delayed his extension this much, Lamb isn’t ready to compromise on anything.

The top of the market is $35 million with Justin Jefferson, so he wants that to come up. And the structure, I am told, via sources familiar with Lamb’s thinking, needs to be worked on as well — cash flow guarantees and how that will be structured on the front half of the deal
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported, confirming the news

The three-time Pro Bowler knows his worth, especially after posting a season with a league-high 135 receptions along with 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns.

CeeDee Lamb’s appearance in doubt for Week 1 of 2024

Considering the pace with which the contract negotiation between Dallas and Lamb is moving forward, it seems a stretch to think the receiver would appear in week 1 of the coming 2024 season. However, the Cowboys aren’t too concerned about it, despite his absence since the offseason program.

However, the star linebacker Micah Parsons is positive about the possibility of playing alongside Lamb in the opening week of the regular season.

CeeDee is a part of this brotherhood whether he likes it or not. He knows he’s not going anywhere. The business side, they’re gonna take care of it — no doubt about it. … On Week 1, he will be suiting up for the Dallas Cowboys
Micah Parsons said

The linebacker had been in contact with the wideout throughout the contract negotiations and despite the speculations; he believes both sides will settle down to an agreement, satisfactory to both parties, very soon.
