What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. Apparently, that’s not the case for CeeDee Lamb. The Dallas Cowboys’ All-Pro wideout, along with his partner in crime, George Pickens, was caught and faced the wrath of the front office when the team played the Raiders on Monday Night Football.
Fans across the country witnessed a baffling sight. Both Lamb and Pickens stood on the sidelines for the Cowboys’ first series at Allegiant Stadium. During the broadcast, ESPN sideline reporter Lisa Salters revealed the information.
I was just told by Cowboys PR the reason CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens were not out on the field—it was not an injury-related situation; it was strictly a coach’s [Brian Schottenheimer] decision. I asked was it [a] punishment of some sort? And I was told, ‘You’ll have to address that with the coach; all we can tell you is it was not injury-related, it was strictly a coach’s decision.

The benching mattered little in the outcome as the Cowboys won 33-16. Lamb caught 5 catches for 66 yards and scored 1 touchdown. Pickens chimed in with 9 catches for 144 yards and 1 touchdown (could have had but he was unable to stay in bounds in one play).
Schottenheimer’s reaction on the bench made it clear that the past was behind them. The rookie head coach approached the pair and gave them a tight hug to show his appreciation.

As Pickens was the top yard getter on the night, reporters flocked to his locker for an exclusive interview. However, the first question Pickens had to answer was about his benching in the first series. Instead of providing a straightforward answer, Pickens chose to give a cryptic reply.
Certain personnel. We kind of thought they were gonna come out in certain stuff. But they didn’t. They started kinda hunching down on the run, so we started throwing it around a little bit.

During his routine appearance on 105.3 The Fan, owner Jerry Jones claimed benching Lamb and Pickens was an “in-house issue” that “had to do with meeting type discipline and that they “had a late problem there.”

Why did the Cowboys bench CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens?
Speaking with the reporters after the game, Schottenheimer revealed that he decided to bench Lamb and Pickens for the first series. He did not specify the reason, but according to rumors, an incident occurred in the morning that triggered the reaction from the Cowboys’ coaching staff.

Spanish outlet Marca wrote a report that speculated on the main cause.
Lamb was allegedly spotted at the Red Rock Casino early Monday morning, around 7:30 a.m., engaging in behavior that raised questions about his readiness for the game.
the Marca article revealed
It’s purely guesswork, but not outside the realm of possibility. Regardless, the Cowboys secured a crucial win ahead of their big showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles in week 12.
Pickens’ form is encouraging development for the Cowboys. The former second-rounder is currently second in the league with 908 yards from 58 catches and 7 touchdowns. Lamb missed a few games due to injury, but still put up decent numbers, 40 catches for 557 yards and 2 touchdowns.
