“They got their a** whooped more!” Celtics legends rub salt in Laker fans wounds after 18th championship win

Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett

The Boston Celtics created history after winning the NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks at the TD Garden. The Celtics are the only franchise in the NBA to have 18th titles to their name. Notably, the other franchise that trails them by just 1 title is the Los Angeles Lakers. Interestingly, the Celtics legends Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce take sly jabs at the Lakers fans after their former side won the 18th NBA title, going past the Lakers.

On the KG Certified Podcast, former Celtics legends Garnett and Paul Pierce are seen conversing regarding the Celtics winning the record 18th NBA title. Not only that, the two further talk about how the Celtics arch-rivals, the Lakers have been poor in most of the NBA Finals they have featured, aiming jabs towards the Lakers franchise and their fans.

They've been(Lakers in the NBA Finals) about 10 times tho, you seen that? The Lakers have been to the Finals 10 more times than the fu***ing Celtics.
Kevin Garnett told Paul Pierce on the KG Certified Podcast
That means, they lost more times then. That's what that mean...I mean they got their A** whooped more.
Paul Pierce responded

In addition, the two Celtics legends also make a point that one of the Lakers and NBA’s best players, Jerry West also “could not get past the Celtics.” On the contrary, the Celtics will be focused enough going into the offseason and come with the same mentality for the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season.

Paul Pierce once shared his views on Lakers’ head coach role

The Los Angeles Lakers are arguably one of the most decorated franchises in the NBA. However, over the past 2 seasons, the Lakers have not been playing greatly despite possessing star players like LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Not only that, they sacked their previous head coach and replaced him with former NBA player JJ Redick. Notably, former Celtics legend Paul Pierce once shared his opinions on the Lakers’ head coach position on the Undisputed Show.

Based on the way the roster is constructed, this is about a three. I don't see this as a long-term job...Say they get JJ Redick, and he becomes the coach (eventually became). It's not good to be rebuilding in L.A.
Paul Pierce said on The Undisputed Show

After overcoming the New Orleans Pelicans in the play-in round, the Lakers concluded the previous season in the 7th position in the Western Conference. The Lakers lost in five games to the Denver Nuggets in the opening round of the 2024 playoffs. It remains to be seen how the Lakers perform in the 2024-25 NBA season.
