Chad Gable is among the top talents in WWE right now. He has long awaited the spotlight he is getting right now, and it took hard work to get where he is. However, at WrestleMania 38, the former Tag Champion was a part of a segment with a controversial star where he was nerfed and was booked to look weak.
Recently, the 38-year-old star talked about the incident. The infamous star in question was Gable Steveson. In his appearance on Cheap Heat, the Alpha Academy leader said that he never felt upstaged during the segment; he was proud of his performance against Randy Orton, and that was enough. He said the spotlight was on Steveson. Therefore, he was there to help the Olympic gold medalist, as he was more under pressure than himself.
We had a match at WrestleMania, my first WrestleMania match, when he was being introduced. My mind was on the fact that I had finally earned my spot on the show, on WrestleMania. I was so proud and so happy about that, and happy for Otis. My mind was, ‘I’m on Mania with Randy Orton. This is great.Chad Gable via Cheap Heat
Chad added that he was more concerned about Steveson as he had a lot of eyes watching him. Therefore, he made his best effort to guide him throughout. In fact, the Raw Superstar even admitted that there was no sense of jealousy in his heart. However, the grand WrestleMania debut of Gable Steveson went nowhere, as he never had any matches on the main roster.
Later on, he was released by WWE after his in-ring skills saw little to no improvement at all. Furthermore, it emerged on social media that he was being approached by a number of NFL teams. Meanwhile, Chad Gable didn’t see any downfall afterward. He has been working well on the roster and is involved with the Wyatt Sicks storyline as of now.
Chad Gable spoke about life in WWE
Chad Gable had some choice of words for a career in WWE during the same interview with Cheap Heat. He was asked about what might have gone wrong with Gable Steveson. The Raw Superstar affirmed that life in WWE is the complete opposite of that of an amateur wrestler.
The 38-year-old said that to be a WWE star, an athlete needs to show his emotions and vulnerabilities. He called it an absolutely different genre of sport. The former Tag Team Champion even highlighted the hectic schedule a WWE star has for the whole year, which makes it impossible for any wrestler to adapt easily.
Amateur wrestlers are trained to do the complete opposite of what we do in WWE. Stoneface, no emotion, go do your job and get out. If you did that in WWE, you probably won’t have a job very long. You have to show emotion and vulnerability.Chad Gable via Cheap Heat
It seems like the Alpha Academy Leader has certainly adapted himself to the WWE schedule. Therefore, he recently signed a new contract with the company. However, there have been a bunch of fans who are baffled by his current bookings. Many expect to see him touching new heights in WWE as he is rumored to form a new stable on Raw.
