This week’s SmackDown was from Toronto, Canada. It was an international event. Therefore, WWE had major surprises for the fans. One of the matches that was advertised for the show was Sami Zayn vs. Chad Gable. The two squared off in an amazing match after SmackDown went off the air, where Gable once again suffered the taste of defeat.
Gable and Zayn tore the house down against each other, similar to their last few bouts. However, in the closing moments of the contest, the Intercontinental Champion delivered a vicious ‘Helluva Kick’ to secure a pinfall. It was the third consecutive loss of the Alpha Academy leader against Sami Zayn in the course of the last four months.
Moreover, Chad Gable was also featured on SmackDown this week. He was involved in a heated confrontation ahead of the Money in the Bank ladder match to open the show. Things are not going well for the 38-year-old star as of now. A few weeks ago, he was attacked by Wyatt Sick6 and has been dealing with them ever since.
Furthermore, people are also criticizing the booking of Gable in the regime of Triple H. He is going to be a part of the Money in the Bank ladder match, where he is one of the favorites to win the bout. Additionally, even Sami Zayn has a huge target on his back this Saturday as he will be defending his Intercontinental Championship against Bron Breakker.
Chad Gable revealed real reason for re-signing with WWE
Chad Gable recently signed a hefty multi-year deal with WWE. After having his future in the clouds for a long time, he finally inked a new contract. He was expected to win the Intercontinental Championship shortly after. However, things have flipped all over ever since he signed a new deal. Recently, the 38-year-old star revealed the reason behind continuing with WWE.
Speaking on Cheap Heat Podcast, Gable said that he always wanted to be in WWE. He started his professional wrestling career with the Stamford-based promotion and would like to finish it here. He called himself a “loyal guy” who would like to leave a legacy behind him.
I’m just so happy and fortunate that the idea of finishing it now looks different than it would have a few years ago, which would have just been like fulfilling my contract would have been finishing it because I wasn’t really doing anything.Chad Gable via Cheap Heat
Besides, the former WWE Tag Team Champion also expressed gratitude to the fans for backing him. Also, the Olympic athlete talked about working in a leadership role for the newer talents. It is going to be interesting to see the path of the Alpha Academy leader from here on, as it looks like WWE has major plans for him in the months to come.
