38-year-old Superstar snaps and turns heel after failing to win the Intercontinental Championship against Sami Zayn on Raw

What a perfect homecoming it would’ve been for Sami Zayn if Chad Gable hadn’t snapped. These two put on a clinic on Raw this week, with the Intercontinental Championship up for grabs. Despite oozing in-ring dogmatism against the hometown hero, Gable couldn’t get the job done and went down. After Sami retained his title, he took a stroll down the ringside to celebrate with his family.

However, just about when Sami Zayn hugged his wife, Khadijah, the Laval-born wrestler bore the brunt of a ticked-off individual in Chad Gable. The Alpha Academy supremo drove the champ into the ring post. And then the 38-year-old from Minnesota locked a battered Zayn into the ankle lock while the latter’s better half was in palpable affliction.

Heading into last night’s main event, many fans believed that Chad had a chip on his shoulders. In hindsight, he knew it too. No wonder Gable let his emotions get the better of him in Montreal. Last weekend at WrestleMania XL, the former Honorary Uce ousted Gunther to end his 666-day title reign. And while Sami could boast that he slayed The Ring General, it could’ve been a far-fetched dream without Master Gable’s immaculate training sessions.

The Great Liberator owed something to his then-coach, and that’s a crack at the working man’s title. Everyone saw how it panned out on Raw. After he lost, Gable had a choice, and he didn’t hold back. The former US Olympian hasn’t been able to reach the mountaintop as a good guy; who knows if he will turn it around now? He’s still vying for that elusive singles title on the main roster.

Challengers galore for Sami Zayn’s Intercontinental Championship

The mid-card scene in WWE right now is stacked. Several names are waiting in the wings. That’s one of the main reasons why one needs to hold onto the opportunities that they’re given. And Chad Gable is one of them.

Maybe the way he mauled Sami Zayn on Raw last night leads to a rematch between them at Backlash. However, it could be over in a minute if the Alpha Academy’s powerhouse falls again. Before he went out for his match, Chad was stopped in his tracks by “Big” Bronson Reed.

He asserted that no matter who’s the Intercontinental Champion, they’d all need to answer to him. Not to forget that Sheamus is also back in the fray. It seems only a matter of time before he sets his sights on the strap currently embellishing Sami’s resume.
