The Aaron Rodgers experiment in New York was disastrous. The franchise gave up a lot to facilitate his requests and ensure he had enough weapons to work with on the Jets. In return, Woody Johnson expected a guaranteed trip to the Super Bowl, however, Rodgers could not deliver the team a trip to the playoffs.

The new-look Jets under HC Aaron Glenn are moving on from Aaron Rodgers and this marks a significant failure on the part of the franchise and the quarterback. He was supposed to be the missing piece that completed this franchise, however, he turned out to be their kryptonite. In light of Rodgers’ shortcomings, one former NFL player is certain that the Jets would have been better off sticking with Zach Wilson.

Zach Wilson was a better quarterback just FYI (than) Aaron Rodgers. I’m not talking about the old Aaron Rodgers. I’m talking about the new Aaron Rodgers.

The harsh reality that is setting in amongst Jets’ fans is that Wilson played better than Rodgers when he was required to step in after the veteran quarterback suffered his Achilles injury.

The New York Jets are in a rough position as they have no solid option at quarterback

After Rodgers’ injury against Buffalo, Wilson led the Jets to a 4-4 start. That is not good but it is much better than Rodgers who led the team to a 2-6 record. The Jets were better off without Davante Adams. The team did just fine under the tutelage of Robert Saleh, with Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall as the cornerstones of their offense.

Through 11 weeks of the 2024-25 season, Aaron Rodgers had a win percentage of .273 as a starter for the Jets. That puts him below Zach Wilson and Sam Darnold. Despite Wilson’s mistakes in his three seasons playing for the Jets, he showed improvements throughout his tenure. Last year was not completely on him because the team had a below-average offensive line which could not protect their quarterback.

The Jets’ season in 2024-25 was tumultuous. The common consensus seems to be that Aaron Rodgers is the problem. Garrett Wilson, who had a great year, gave signs that he was done with the quarterback during his interviews with media outlets. The addition of Davante Adams was supposed to boost their offense, but it did more damage than benefit to the Jets.

Aaron Rodgers wanted to stay on with the Jets but Aaron Glenn seems to have been firm in his approach to making changes by starting with the root of the problems, the quarterback position. The veteran now finds himself in an unfavorable position. He intends to play for another year but the list of NFL teams that want him is limited.
