Champions League: Atletico Madrid v RB Salzburg Match Report
Yet again another Red Bull team tormented Atletico Madrid after RB Leipzig dumped Atletico Madrid in last season’s Champions League quarterfinals. RB Salzburg took the lead against Atletico Madrid in the second half and Joao Felix had to bail his team out with a well-deserved brace.
Match Report:
Marcos Llorente yet again scored as he gave Atletico Madrid the lead in the first half when he drilled a low shot past Cican Stankovic. Llorente however missed a sitter when he was one-on-one with Stankovic again. This didn’t go unpunished as Daniel Szoboszlai thrashed his finish past Atletico’s Jan Oblak. The first half finished in equal terms between both teams.
The away side started the second half in lighting quick fashion as they took the lead in two minutes of second half time. Andreas Ulmer’s cross was turned into his own net by Felipe. However five minutes later Joao Felix equalized a team move with a tap-in and in the 85th minute gave them the lead. A cross into Salzburg’s box saw their defence not attending to it and Felix scored from the mistake.
Atletico Madrid sit at second in the table with three points, while Bayern are first with six. Both RB Salzburg and Lokomotiv Moskow are each on 1 point.
