Channing Frye commends Richard Jefferson for tongue-in-cheek Luka Doncic comment
Former NBA player Channing Fyre hopped on the Richard Jefferson bandwagon as he trolled the Phoenix Suns with remarks involving Luka Doncic

Luka Doncic
Four years after their third Finals trip, the Phoenix Suns are a very different team. The Suns, with the NBA’s highest payroll, lost to the Los Angeles Lakers on March 14th night, dropping their record to 31-37, 1.5 games below the 10th-seeded Dallas Mavericks. However, it was Lakers star Luka Doncic who shone out against the Suns.
About this, ESPN commentator and former NBA player Richard Jefferson seemed to enjoy his job a bit more during the game.
Jefferson was giving color commentary for the Suns’ road game in Los Angeles when he informed the fans of one of their biggest mistakes. That was by passing on Luka Doncic in the 2018 NBA Draft.
With the first overall pick, the Phoenix Suns chose Arizona big man Deandre Ayton over the Slovenian guard.
Let me just say this. The number one pick was Deandre Ayton, a fellow Arizona Wildcat. So, the jury is still out on whether or not they made the right pick here in Phoenix between Luka and Deandre.
Richard Jefferson said this,
In addition, Jefferson’s former teammate, Channing Frye also took to X to commend Jefferson’s humor regarding the Doncic-Ayton remarks. Channing Frye wrote on X, “What a troll.”

Jefferson, a former Arizona Wildcat, joked about his partiality toward Ayton, but it was evident that his statements were based on his wealth of sarcasm. After all, the jury’s decision has already been confirmed. Seven years after being drafted, Ayton is no longer a Sun.
At the same time, the individual who the Suns passed on has received more All-NBA and All-Star votes than their marquee player, Devin Booker. Doncic also contributed 33 points, 11 assists, and eight rebounds at the Crypto.com Arena. Also, he has the second-highest point-per-game average versus the Suns, trailing only Michael Jordan.
Luka Doncic had an unusual reaction on facing the Suns
Before the game, Luka Doncic had a microphone to wear when facing the Phoenix Suns. The NBA frequently does this to provide an exciting aspect for the fans at home. Doncic reacted to the Suns’ attempts to guard him during the game. Hilariously, the Lakers’ player told Austin Reaves that he has never been more open on the court in his entire NBA career.
I’ve never been open so much in my life. That’s the first time I’ve made this open shot.

Doncic appeared to be having the best time of his life battling the Suns. It is unusual for a player as lethal as him to receive the attention he has. But, for all of Doncic’s newfound freedom, his offensive tantrums against the Suns were nothing new.
Dirk Nowitzki is still not over Luka Doncic’s trade
The Dallas Mavericks shocked the basketball world when they opted to trade Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in return for Anthony Davis. Dirk Nowitzki, Doncic’s former teammate and Mavs star, took the move extremely hard. Despite speaking about this deal several times, Nowitzki is still not over the fact that Doncic is no longer a Maverick.
Nowitzki spoke with his sister Silke Mayer on the 41 Campus podcast about his reactions to the news.
I immediately went on Twitter, read the news, and at first, I was just shocked—like everyone else… I was so stunned that I just put everything aside. We were supposed to go for a quick lunch with the family before flying out, but instead, I sat in my room for an hour, scrolling through X, trying to figure out if it was real.
Dirk Nowitzki said
Ultimately, Doncic is happy in L.A. and is settling nicely with the Lakers. He has been performing exceptionally over the past week, without the presence of LeBron James. Doncic is currently leading the Lakers side on the court. He will be looking to end this season on a high with the Lakers after facing a roller coaster ride during the trade market.
