Charles Barkley saw Anthony Edwards impressively lead his Minnesota Timberwolves to defeat the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round. That is why he believed the Wolves would have it easy against the Golden State Warriors, even if Stephen Curry and his teammates were also impressive against the Houston Rockets.

The narrative across media circles confirms with Barkley that Edwards is gunning for it all. Whether it is the drive he inculcated after being questioned about his competitiveness by Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr during his pre-draft workout.

Or for the fact that he knows that he can snatch the crown of the Face of the NBA if he manages to win a title. On top of that, Edwards and his teammates enjoyed almost a week of rest, compared to the one day the Warriors had. This gave the idea that the Wolves should win easily at home. But the game was anything but that.

Anthony Edwards attempted eight field goals in the first half, including three from beyond the arc. None of them went in, and the only point he scored was off a free throw. After the game, Charles Barkley seemingly trolled the 23-year-old for not standing up after wanting all the smoke.

You said you wanted the smoke, ‘I want the Warriors’. And you got them. You had 1 point at half-time, and his energy level is down. You can’t come out and talk all that and have one point.

The Hall of Famer was impressed that Wolves’ head coach Chris Finch called Edwards out, too. Accountability is important if the gold medalist wants to stand by his words. Barkley wants Edwards to get his game together.

Fans tear into Anthony Edwards after dismal display

Basketball fans were not as sublime as Charles Barkley was when taking shots at Anthony Edwards. They took to social media to call out the Minnesota Timberwolves star for his awful performance after talking trash after the Lakers series.

They believe the player, as well as the media, were touting him as the next incarnation of Michael Jordan. But that one-point first-half performance is not something even bench players will like to talk about. The abysmal performance has fans demanding media to criticize Edwards the way they do to 40-year-old LeBron James. Check out examples of those comments below.

That performance was a major reason the Minnesota Timberwolves lost to the Golden State Warriors even after Stephen Curry exited the second quarter with a hamstring injury. Edwards tried to mount a comeback, but it was both too late and not enough to tie the score.

Wolves three-point record shocks players

The final score of 99-88 does not fully reveal how badly the Minnesota Timberwolves shot the ball. At one point, they were down 20 points after missing 16 straight shots. After the game, a reporter informed Anthony Edwards, Julius Randle, and Naz Reid how bad their three-point shooting had been.

We just got the numbers that you guys are going 12-76 over the last two games, which is the worst three-point shooting in the history of the NBA playoffs. (That’s) for a team that was 4th in three-point percentage.

Reporter at Timberwolves post-game press conference

As soon as the reporter said this, Edwards looked shocked. Randle broke out into a chuckle, and Reid was speechless. They could not believe how bad their three-point shooting had been. They had leaned on the three-point shot all throughout the regular season, but this 15% efficiency is not helping them.
