One bad decision can cost a team the game or potentially even a series. The New York Knicks became a victim of such a situation as the team did not foul the Philadelphia 76ers Tyrese Maxey as he tied the game with a logo shot which forced overtime. Naturally, the decision received a lot of criticism from fans but also upset the Hall of Famer Charles Barkley.
The New York Knicks were leading 3-1 while going into the game and had the chance to win the series at home. But Tyrese Maxey‘s clutch performance at the end of regulation forced a game 6. Charles Barkley during Inside the NBA was upset as the Knicks players discussed not succeeding at fouling Maxey on his unreal logo shot.

Barkley was also upset by the team’s miscommunication as the team should have fouled Maxey in the backcourt itself while co-hosts Kenny Smith and Shaquille O’Neal agreed with him. Maxey’s logo shot took the game to overtime where the Sixers outscored the Knicks 15-9 to take game 5.
Despite Maxey’s 46-point outing, the Sixers’ star player Joel Embiid was struggling from the field with merely 36.8 FG%. The Knicks also had the chance to take advantage of that but will now have to head to Philly for game 6.
Charles Barkley sent a warning to the Knicks fans
After explosive 40+ point performances from Maxey and Jalen Brunson in a thrilling game, certainly, the next game will also be a competitive one. The teams will go head to head, serving a treat for their respective fandoms as the Knicks will attempt to eliminate the Sixers.
The Knicks have one of the most loyal and impactful fanbases in NBA history. Considering it is the playoffs, the fans gave a hard time to the Sixers the last time they were in Philadelphia. Barkley a die-hard Philly fan, joined the fun as he sent a warning to the Knicks ahead of game 6.

Despite being a Philly fan, Chuck showed his love for the game by giving his honest view on the Knicks’ poor decision. But the poor decision made the first-round matchup more exciting for the viewers and extended the series for one more game. Considering the events of the series so far, it would be interesting to see the Knicks take over the Sixers in Philadelphia.
