Charles Barkley faults Luka Doncic's weight for his trade

Ever since the mega trade deal swap involving Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis took place, almost all major NBA personalities have chimed in with their own two bits on this significant business decision. One such sports analyst and former NBA player you can always expect to weigh in is, respectfully, the Hall of Famer, Sir Charles Barkley.

During his short cameo on NBA TV’s GameTime, the Round Mound of Rebound stated that maybe the Dallas Mavericks know something about Luka Magic that all the talking heads don’t. He also mentioned that once a franchise signs a player for over $200 million for five years, they are basically “stuck together for life.”

“The only people who know Luka Doncic is the Dallas Mavericks…. they must know something we don’t know because listen, he’s been hurt, everybody complains about his conditioning”– Charles Barkley on Luka

These remarks were directed at Luka Magic’s persistent conditioning and weight concerns amid his on-and-off injuries. The Slovenian baller recently hit the 270-pound mark, making him slightly overweight for his height, which also raises concerns about his future and health for any organization looking to invest several hundred million into the athlete.

Moreover, Barkley also gave one of his infamous predictions that Luka Doncic would have a rather slower start in Los Angeles due to his high-maintenance requirements. Although he refrained from guaranteeing it, Sir Charles proclaimed that the young guard will certainly struggle fitting in alongside the veteran champion, LeBron James.

Charles Barkley insists that the Mavs are now the second-best team in the West

With Anthony Davis on the Mavericks squad now, adding more fire power and vertical to their roster, Barkley believes this business move might have catapulted the Dallas to second place in the Western conference, right behind the unstoppable, top seed OKC.

OKC, they are my favorite to win this thing, but man, the Dallas Mavericks, they might have just become the second-best team in the Western Conference because the jury is still out, I think Denver needs to make a trade, because they need to get some bench help. The Rockets are so young, I’m not gonna take the Rockets beating the Mavs in a seven-game series.

Charles Barkley stated

Barkley also lauded the Mavericks organization and its GM, Nico Harrison, giving them all the credit for bringing in AD to Dallas and the manner in which they quietly conducted their business behind the scenes. This bodacious trade move will not be forgotten anytime soon, as it could impact the trajectory of both teams involved.

The 61-year-old analyst made some very intriguing arguments in favor of the Mavs and against the Lakers but eventually agreed that unless either team wins the championship, both would be considered losers in this blockbuster trade deal.
