Charles Barkley has a particular preference for the type of bread he eats

With several games that individuals attended, the NBA enjoyed a fantastic Christmas Day. The league’s current round of concerns about why no one is watching—a topic that everyone from JJ Redick to Caitlin Clark has lately chimed in on—came as the news of the strong ratings was released. However, Redick’s words regarding the NBA ratings did not go down well with Charles Barkley.

The New Year surely seemed to ignite a spark in the former NBA player. On Thursday night, during TNT’s first doubleheader of 2025, Barkley lashed out at the Los Angeles Lakers coach (and his squad). During the Boston Celtics’ victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves, Barkley criticized Redick and called him a “dead man walking.”

He said something about we’re the reason people ain’t watching this crappy product we got… but JJ, you come for the king, you better not miss. ‘Cause I can get you brother. ‘Cause remember I got your Lakers’ games. You can’t hide them flaws they got. You just a dead man walking. They got rid of Frank Vogel who did a good job. They got rid of Darvin Ham who did a good job. If you came out there thinking you were going to change things with that same ugly girl you went on the date with—the Lakers stink.

In addition, Redick does not shy away from speaking his mind in the media. One can also expect a back-and-forth tussle between Redick and Barkley if the Lakers coach decides to take this matter further. Aside from this, Jason McIntyre of FS1 also criticized Barkley and Inside the NBA on The Herd with Colin Cowherd a few days before Redick’s remarks.

In any case, Redick and McIntyre were discussing exactly what Barkley said tonight. Barkley referred to the product as “crappy” and claimed that the Lakers, a playoff team “stink.” On Tuesday night, they will play the Dallas Mavericks, who are only one game above them in the standings on TNT.

Charles Barkley will not consider the Lakers and Warriors a threat

Since the 2015 season, the Golden State Warriors have taken home four NBA titles. Additionally, as long as Stephen Curry is on the team, they will always be a relevant squad. The same is true for LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. Charles Barkley, however, has recently disagreed with this. He lashed out at both teams in a recent interview,

The Warriors and the Lakers both stink… Neither one of these teams are any good. They act like the Lakers and the Warriors are contenders. They’re not. They’re play-in candidates. Love LeBron, he’s amazing, but the Lakers and the Warriors are not contenders. Plain and simple, so stop it Jimmy. I’m not gonna let you do that.

Barkley is perhaps not to everyone’s taste, but neither team had any post-season success the previous season. This season too, both sides have not performed as per their standards. Despite having the likes of Curry on the roster, the Warriors are 10th in the West. As for the Lakers, they are 6th in the West as of now.
