Charles Barkley hits back at Draymond Green’s constant criticism of new All-Star format: “Your generation messed the game”
Draymond Green has been the most vocal critic of the new All-Star game format as NBA looks to improve excitement.

Draymond Green's criticism of All-Star format has Charles Barkley mad
The NBA All-Star game is underway, and the four teams are playing according to the new format the league introduced. That new format though has seen criticisms pour out from a few corners of the sporting world. The most vocal about it, has been Golden State Warriors superstar Draymond Green.
However, he was not the first. His former teammate Kevin Durant instantly dismissed the four-team 40-point format. He felt it that was not the way for the league to try to make the All-Star game exciting. Green too has echoed on similar lines.
He believes the idea of a rising stars playing in the new format was not right. They did not earn an All-Star game callup, hence should be anywhere near the main game. He did take some heat from fans as they believed he was complaining too much. Charles Barkley though, had a different response to Green.
I’m going to disagree with Draymond a lot. They messed the game up! His generation messed the game up. We’re doing every type of trick to make this weekend exciting.
Charles Barkley said
The Hall of Famer cited the example of how parents are around children. When children mess a house up, parents clean it up. But then, those children get annoyed with their parent for putting everything correctly back in place.

Charles Barkley believes the NBA is doing the same thing. Since Draymond Green’s peers have not taken it upon themselves to compete in the All-Star game, the NBA had to try out this new format. So far, the first semblance of competition saw some improved defending.
New All-Star format not living up to the idea
That improved defending brought in a bit of excitement from fans. However, it was for a short burst in the first game between the Global Stars and the Young Stars. There were more blocks than has been seen in the past few editions of the All-Star game.
However, that defense was in spurts as both teams then dialed back on their aggressiveness. In the next game between the OGs and the Rising stars, it was a dialed back a lot more. It seemed as if the players decided to not risk their bodies for a short amount of playing time.
Draymond Green had already criticized the short duration games. Therefore, fans had to be content with seeing their favorite players for a very short time on the court. Now with the likes of LeBron James and Anthony Edwards out due to injury, the new All-Star format is struggling to live up to the expectations.
