Charles Barkley, known for speaking his mind, has talked about getting hate from fans and players whenever he criticizes them. But he revealed to Shannon Sharpe, that the part that stings the most is when he receives hate from the black community.

Not just for his criticism, but also for how successful he has been over the years. As a guest on Club Shay Shay, the Hall of Famer revealed how it is in their community.

I always wanna uplift black people. Always. I know people gonna hate on me. And they gonna be black. Man, I love to see black people doing good. I'm old enough and am around enough to know there's going to be some hate coming towards me. Especially if they disagree with something I say. I'm not going to tell black people they right all the time. We can be wrong. But also on the other hand, when I see something happening to a black player or community, I'm going to step in.

Essentially suggesting that people of the black community are the ones who throw hate in his direction the most. Even though, Charles Barkley wants to see black people thrive.

Host Shannon Sharpe added that people in the black community do not mind if one is doing good. But the moment that person overtakes the others, the others will start talking. Barkley agreed to this narrative and said that he faces the same issue.

The former MVP added that sometimes he is forced to say something negative to a member of the black community even if he wants to say otherwise. The gravity of the situation might not allow him to be supportive of that black person.

While continuing to talk about how appreciative he is about black people and their success, Charles Barkley talked about Junior Bridgeman. The first athlete who became a multi-millionaire. He said;

For a guy who didn't make a ton of money. Didn't have a name. To learn how to handle business, he's probably got 500-1000 restaurants now. Does it so low-key. To be a businessman in our day, and become a billionaire, you are great at business. Is one of the greatest stories ever.

Barkley said that he tries to learn from Bridgeman whenever he gets to meet him. His success came without having a name as famous as other players.

Junior Bridgeman played for the Milwaukee Bucks for almost his entire 12-year career. The most he earned in a season was $350,000. Building a business during the off-season, the former guard is now worth over $600 million.

Charles Barkley and Shannon Sharpe both agreed that Bridgeman was the first black athlete to show the world that they could do business. His success has inspired others to follow suit.
