In a thrilling Game 1 matchup of the ECF Finals, the Indiana Pacers played the New York Knicks away from home and won in OT, 138-135. Once again, the Pacers proved to the world that they are in it for the long run this NBA playoffs. Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton shone at Madison Square Garden for his side, clinching an important win to kick-start this series.

However, his father, John Haliburton, a prominent face in the Pacers’ crowd was not present at the game, nor was he at the Clevealand Cavaliers series. Why? Since his on-court altercation with Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo during the first round of the playoffs, John, the father of Pacers player Tyrese Haliburton, has not been to a Pacers game.

Haliburton Sr rushed out onto the floor and began insulting Antetokounmpo, who wasn’t really clear what was happening at the time, as soon as Tyrese made a game-winning basket to end the Pacers’ series against the Bucks last month. The following morning, John apologized. Then, a team representative affirmed that John would not be going to the team’s home or away games “for the foreseeable future.”

Now, NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley chimed in on this matter lately, showcasing support for Haliburton Sr. Barkley pleaded with NBA commissioner Adam Silver to lift John Haliburton’s ban after his son secured an important win in Game 1 against the Knicks.

Hey, my man paid his dues. He did something really, really stupid. But he’s been punished. I’m asking you and the Indiana Pacers to let Mr. Haliburton back in the building for Games 3 and 4. Listen, he paid his dues. It shouldn’t be indefinite. He’s been punished enough, he will never do anything that stupid again.

The conditions of that are unknown, as is whether Haliburton Sr voluntarily agreed to step back or if the team or league banned him. It’s unclear if Silver and the Pacers share Barkley’s viewpoint. The series will return to Indianapolis on Sunday night following Friday’s Game 2.

Tyrese Haliburton opened up on ‘wasted’ Reggie Miller choke celebration at the MSG

Defeating the Knicks in the last minute of the game is one thing, and bringing out former Pacers star Reggie Miller’s choke celebration is another: Tyrese Haliburton did both on Wednesday at MSG. With 31 points, 11 assists, and an incredible buzzer-beater at the end of the fourth quarter, he put on an incredible effort that forced OT. Notably, Haliburton pulled out the Miller Choke celebration after hitting the buzzer-beater.

Haliburton later said that if he had known his foot was on the line, he would not have made the celebration, turning the game-winning three into a two-pointer.

If I would’ve known it was a two, I would not have done it. I might have wasted it. If I do it again, people might say I’m aura farming. I don’t plan on using it again.

In addition, Haliburton also admitted that this celebration would be a ‘one-time thing’ and wont do it again. However, he did garner immense attention from the NBA community for his celebration at the MSG.

John Haliburton chimed in on his son’s Reggie Miller choke celebration at a watch party

Its been tough for John Haliburton, father of Tyrese, to watch his son and the Pacers away from the basketball arenas, due to one mistake(mentioned above). However, his mistake did not keep him away from pulling out another wild celebration.

In a video that went viral on social media on Wednesday night, the elder Haliburton appeared to be having a wonderful time. It showed him dancing and celebrating following the Pacers’ 138-135 victory in Game 1 and his son’s buzzer-beater that forced overtime. Not only that, John Haliburton, just like his son, pulled out the choke celebration at a watch party.
