Charles Omenihu Explains Why Josh Allen Is Tougher to Defend Than Lamar Jackson
Former Chiefs DE Charles Omenihu claimed that the Ravens would win a Super Bowl with Josh Allen as their quarterback instead of Lamar Jackson.

- Josh Allen has emerged as a top quarterback, leading the Bills to multiple AFC East titles and an AFC championship game appearance.
- Charles Omenihu believes Allen is tougher to defend than Lamar Jackson due to his ability to make every throw and evade tackles.
- The debate over Allen versus Jackson intensified after Allen won the MVP award in 2024, despite criticism regarding his performance compared to Jackson's.
Josh Allen comes from a humble background. Son of a farm owner, Allen attended the University of Wyoming as a zero-star recruit and proved enough for the Buffalo Bills to draft him in the first round, much to the surprise of the fans.
The gamble has paid off. Allen helped the Bills win multiple AFC East titles, led them to four divisional title games, and made an appearance in the AFC championship game in 2024. That year, voters picked Allen as the best player in the league over Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson and Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes.
Charles Omenihu played with Mahomes for four seasons before moving to a different club this year. During those years, he played against both Allen and Jackson, and according to him, it’s tough to figure out what the Bills’ signal caller will do with the ball in his hand.
I don’t think the league has truly figured him out. With Lamar, honestly, you bring a five-man rush on him and collapse that pocket; he’s drifting backwards, and unfortunately, he might make a play that isn’t going to be the best play for the Ravens. With Josh, he’s going to drift backwards, run around, and he’s so hard to tackle.

Omenihu believes Allen can make every throw in the book and knows how to use his feet, making him a dangerous player to defend against.
The Allen versus Jackson debate became a talking point since the 2024 season, when Allen pipped Jackson to take the MVP crown. Former players like Ryan Clark criticized the verdict, claiming that Jackson individually had a better campaign compared to Allen.
Then again, when both the Bills and the Ravens needed head coaches at the same time, the football community viewed the Bills as a better job because of Allen.
Charles Omenihu makes an outrageous claim about Josh Allen
No one can deny that Allen and Jackson are top quarterbacks. If Mahomes did not exist, these two would be ruling every QB stat. Joe Burrow is the only other QB who can claim that he belongs in the same bracket as the two.

Then again, neither Allen nor Jackson has won a Super Bowl, while Mahomes has won three from five appearances. Omenihu was part of the 2023-24 roster that defeated the 49ers in the final.
The 28-year-old argued that if Allen were to start for the Ravens, then the Baltimore franchise would win a ring.
If you put him on the Ravens, you have [running back] Derrick Henry, you’ve got [receiver] Zay Flowers, you’ve got [tight end] Mark Andrews. You have a defense… For the Bills, they’re saying, ‘Oh, he doesn’t have enough guys; he doesn’t have enough pieces.’ With the Ravens, he ain’t gonna have that problem.
Charles Omenihu said
Honestly, there is a world where such an arrangement can happen. Jackson is due a new contract within the next couple of years. And even though the owners want to re-sign the two-time league MVP, it won’t come as a surprise if they trade Jackson to a different team.
However, getting Allen from Buffalo will prove a harder task to accomplish. He’s no Jim Kelly, but Allen may yet still lead the franchise to its first-ever Super Bowl victory.
