Once hailed as a setup for passing the torch, Tiffany Stratton‘s ongoing feud with Charlotte Flair went up a notch last week. On SmackDown, the two women came face-to-face in the presence of Wade Barrett. Amid some mild insults, the reigning women’s champion upped the ante by indirectly referencing that Flair is alone in real life, which was a nod to the latter’s divorce with Andrade.

Stratton also quipped that Charlotte might fancy a 4-3 win/loss record at WrestleMania, but she’s actually 0-3, which depicted the number of failed marriages Flair’s had. After saying that, the 25-year-old rolled out of the ring. Per Dave Meltzer, sources close to Stratton claimed that she did so to prevent the situation from exacerbating, and it was deemed a defense mechanism.

People in the know also added that Tiffany’s real-life jabs at Flair were just the young gun retaliating against the veteran, who seemingly tried to bury The Centre of the Universe in a recent split-screen interview. Meltzer revealed in his latest issue of WON that Charlotte wasn’t supposed to react in a squeaky manner when Stratton was on the mic in the later stages of the segment.

The report also mentions that some tension was brewing between the WrestleMania-bound combatants for the last two weeks, and those backstage in WWE were aware of it. Also, there’s more heat on Flair than Stratton coming out of SmackDown. However, those in charge believe that neither woman was in the right for what she did on national television.

The aforementioned war of words didn’t end with Tiffany Stratton mocking Charlotte Flair. In fact, the latter got the last word in. After the former US gymnast took a shot at the number of times Flair’s been divorced, the 14x women’s champion dragged Stratton’s boyfriend, Ludwig Kaiser, into the mix. Charlotte asked Tiffy if that’s why he’s in her DMs.

By that point, the former NXT Women’s Champion had already bailed out of the ring to avoid any mishaps. Nonetheless, Kaiser did clap back at Flair. A few hours after the show went off air, the Imperium member posted a clip featuring Shawn Michaels telling Diana Hart-Smith to not flatter herself. While doing so, the German grappler tagged Charlotte.

Following it up was Andrade, who wished his ex-wife on her 39th birthday. It was the morning after Friday. The former AEW star stayed away from the controversy encircling Flair, Stratton, and Kaiser. Though Andrade’s post was largely wholesome, its timing seemed off. The former US Champion hasn’t talked about getting legally separated from Flair, while the latter recently broke the ice. Andrade’s TV presence has taken a toll in the last few weeks, which continues to bother the fans.

Since coming back to WWE at the Royal Rumble, things seem to have started going off the rails completely for Charlotte Flair. The company, at one point, intended to bring about an overhaul in The Nature Girl’s on-screen presentation and character.

The talks around it intensified in the lead-up to her return from a career-threatening knee injury. However, in hindsight, nothing has changed, as is evident by fan reactions concerning The Queen. The North Carolina native recently addressed the crowds turning on her while speaking to Daily Mail.

Ric Flair‘s daughter understands that she’s polarizing when it comes to her wrestling fanbase. However, the fact that she’s able to elicit numerous crowd reactions is way better than having someone walk down that aisle to crickets. At the moment, the WWE audience can’t stand her.
