After being married to Andrade since 2022, Charlotte Flair (real name Ashley Fliehr) filed for divorce from the Mexican wrestler last year in June. It was finalized a few months later in October. The 14-time Women’s Champion had been tight-lipped on this since making her WWE return. However, she finally addressed the sensitive aspect of her personal life while speaking to Sherri.

As the fans know, the 38-year-old WWE stalwart spent the entire 2024 on the sidelines due to a serious knee injury she suffered in late 2023. Choosing to file for divorce at such a time made Flair feel as if she had failed not just at her job but also at her personal life. More than anything, The Queen was perturbed with the embarrassment that would’ve come along.

Charlotte feared getting compared to her legendary father, Ric Flair, as he’s a four-time divorcee. The marriage that his daughter ended with Andrade was her third. The Nature Girl stated in the aforementioned interview that she wanted to keep the divorce under wraps. She deemed her in-ring comeback as a chance at redemption for herself to overcome everything she’s feared or been embarrassed of.

When I made the decision to file for divorce, the only thing I kept thinking was I just didn’t want anyone to know………..Oh, my gosh, I have failed again.

The SmackDown star said it’s unfortunate that the WWE Universe didn’t get to see what it took for her to plot a comeback. Flair, gunning to redeem herself, revealed that she learned to take a breather to start over when things don’t go one’s way in life. At last, she called it her biggest comeback because of the fact that she’s been through a lot both emotionally and physically.

Charlotte Flair reviews negative response to her Royal Rumble coup

A night that was supposed to be an emotional one for Charlotte Flair was this year’s Royal Rumble PLE. The North Carolina native hadn’t wrestled in over a year and was coming back as a pre-announced entrant in the 30-woman Royal Rumble match. When WWE spilled the beans on Flair’s return, a ton of fans were already convinced that she’d be winning the Royal Rumble match right off the bat.

And guess what? It happened. Flair last eliminated NXT upstart Roxanne Perez to emerge as the last woman standing in that ring. Although the live crowd in Indianapolis popped big knowing that she was WrestleMania-bound, the aftermath wasn’t just as good. The first time she turned up on an episode of Raw since the PLE, Charlotte was heavily booed.

Reflecting on the negative reaction she’s gotten from the fans, The Queen set the record straight. She told the Daily Mail that she’s the end-all and be-all of women’s wrestling. The former WrestleMania headliner added that she has learned from years of experience that she’d either be “wooed” or “booed.”

Charlotte clarified that she does come across as a bit polarizing for the fans in different parts of the world. Take, for instance, when she recently took on Piper Niven in Nottingham, the crowd was rooting for the 14-time world champion. The Queen takes pride in eliciting a rollercoaster of emotions from the audience, which is infinitely better than them not caring at all.

Tiffany Stratton oozes confidence ahead of Charlotte Flair hurdle

As per WrestleVotes, Flair will look to rewrite the history books against Stratton on night 1 of WrestleMania 41. With how things have progressed between these women, the veteran has thus far stamped her authority over The Center of the Universe.

Last Friday on SmackDown, Tiffany responded to Flair allegedly burying her in a previous split-screen interview. In a follow-up, the 25-year-old revealed she learned that even after spending a decade in this business, Charlotte can’t let a rookie speak, which underscored Flair’s insecurity. The Buff Barbie vowed to retain in Vegas and plans on leaving Flair’s massive ego in the Sin City because what happens there stays there.
