Joe Gibbs Racing has finally announced the signing of Chase Briscoe as the replacement 2017 Cup champion Martin Truex Jr. who is set to retire at the end of the season. The announcement was made by TRD driver Chrsitopher Bell who won the last Sunday’s Cup race at New Hampshire in a special press-conference.

Chase Briscoe will get the best shot at the winning the Cup series title this year in the No:19 Toyota Camry team as they have been fielding some of the best cars in the Next-Gen era, unlike the Stewart Haas Racing No:14 team. So, the former Xfinity Series champion understands how significant the chance it is for him.

While talking on the point, he asserted that he finds himself in a same situation as his 2020 Xfinity season where he had no option but to win races to prove himself. He asserted that if he cant win races with the No:18 team in the first two season with JGR, it means his career at the top of stock car racing is over.

If I don’t win, then the way I look at it is as my career is probably over, because if I can’t perform at this caliber of a race team, then why would any other owner take a chance on me?

Play-off entry is a bare minimum for Chase Briscoe at JGR

The star driver asserted while talking about the same topic he has to win races with JGR. He pointed out that if he doesn’t win races and doesn’t make it to the playoff, it won’t be long before Joe Gibbs sack him from the team.

I definitely think you have to win. When I sat down with their contract guy, they went through the stats of (how many JGR cars have made the playoffs through the years). If you don’t make the playoffs, if you don’t win, you’re not going to be sitting here any longer.
Chase Briscoe said.

The SHR driver didn’t have to bring any huge sponsorship deals to JGR as he will be inheriting Martin Truex Jr.’s sponsors. Hence, it’s no doubt that he was signed because of his talent and experience. So there is no doubt that he will be out of the team if he can’t prove himself.
