In Week 7 Thursday Night Football, Denver Broncos left tackle Garett Bolles made headlines with an exceptional display of strength during a fourth-quarter play. While protecting quarterback Bo Nix, Bolles effortlessly tossed New Orleans Saints pass rusher Chase Young to the ground.

The moment quickly went viral, with fans and analysts on social media platforms discussing the play. On the other hand, Young, the 2020 Defensive Rookie of the Year (DROY) has found himself being the punching bag of the fans.

The TNF play came amid an increasing chance of a trade for Young. Young hasn’t registered mind fumbling or even decent statitsitcs through the first seven weeks. The Saints, who started 2-0 with two big number wins, have flunked to 2-5, losing five straight games. They have riddled with a string of injuries, especially the starting QB Derek Carr.

The Saints are significantly over the 2025 salary cap, and it’s unlikely they’ll be able to retain Chase Young beyond this season. A trade in the meantime could help them maximize their return. There are many good teams who would attempt a trade for Young if the Saints open for it. Detroit Lions, who lost star player Aidan Hutchinson and free agent signee Marcus Davenport, will need a replacement to continue their merry run.

Similarly, the Chicago Bears have also expressed interest in Chase Young. However, since his standout rookie season, Young hasn’t quite demonstrated the same level of dominance. A trade to the Bears, however, could offer a fresh start. He could potentially revitalize his career with the opportunity to form a dynamic defensive duo alongside Montez Sweat.

Fans think Chase Young’s good days are over

Through seven games, Chase Young has only 16 tackles so far and 1.5 sacks. On comparison, Robert Spillane leads the total number of tackles in 2024 with 62 so far. Young is ranked at 278th position in tackles while 99th in sacks. The number game for the 25-year-old Marylander from Upper Marlboro doesn’t look anywhere near good.

The recent loss has aggravated the fans frustration. They have flocked onto social media, ripping apart Chase Young for his poor performances.

Few fans allege that Chase Young was never good to begin with. A fan noted that he has produced 4 sacks in his last sixteen games. In fact, it is 3.5 to be exact while counting the postseason games as well.

It is unsure if Chase Young has already played his last game in the Saints jersey. They play the LA Chargers next week looking to reclaim the lost momentum, with or without Young.
