Dominik Mysterio’s WWE career took a dramatic turn after his shocking heel turn at Clash at the Castle 2022. Once viewed as Rey Mysterio’s promising son, ‘Dirty Dom’ has transformed into one of the company’s most despised villains. His heel persona is evident not just in his actions inside the ring, but also in his disrespectful treatment of his family.
For the unversed, he first appeared on WWE television in 2005 during the unforgettable storyline between Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero, which revolved around the custody of a young Dominik.
The emotional feud culminated in the now-legendary ladder match at SummerSlam 2005, where Rey emerged victorious. Given that history, the connection between Dominik and Guerrero has always existed, and it’s becoming even more noticeable today. In recent times, Dominik has begun to resemble Guerrero more than ever, growing out his hair and mustache in a style reminiscent of the late Hall of Famer.
Beyond appearance, Mysterio’s confidence and ‘Latino Heat’ swagger continue to mirror Guerrero’s iconic persona. Much like Guerrero’s on-screen partnership with Chyna, Mysterio’s alliances with Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan have drawn even more comparisons, while his evolving in-ring style echoes the influence of the former WWE Champion.
In a recent interview with Bill Apter, Chavo Guerrero shared his thoughts on Dominik’s transformation, revealing that despite being Rey Mysterio’s son, Dominik has always wanted to embrace the Guerrero legacy.
He always wanted to be a Guerrero. His dad’s Rey Mysterio, one of the best of all time, but he wanted to be like the Guerreros. So it’s pretty cool to see him actually trying to follow in those steps and kind of just using some lie, cheat, steal Guerrero-isms, it’s pretty cool to see.

This week on Raw in Boston, Dominik’s 204-day reign as Intercontinental Champion came to an end when he lost the title to John Cena. The two had a heated confrontation during Cena’s last appearance in his home state, which led Triple H to book a championship match between them.
Cena ultimately secured the victory with an Attitude Adjustment, achieving full WWE Grand Slam status. Adding to the drama, ‘Dirty Dom’ had previously exchanged harsh words with Rey Mysterio, warning him to “keep his father’s (Eddie Guerrero) name out of his mouth.”
Chavo Guerrero reveals he has signed a new contract with the WWE
While Dominik Mysterio is widely seen as one of WWE’s brightest young stars, earning praise from legends like CM Punk, John Cena, and Cody Rhodes, it seems another member of wrestling’s famous Guerrero family also has big news about his future.

Chavo Guerrero has officially confirmed that he has re-signed with WWE. During a recent interview, Chavo revealed that his new role involves assisting with the company’s growing partnership with AAA.
Reports first surfaced after he was spotted backstage at the AAA Worlds Collide event on June 7 in Inglewood, California. And during the same interview with Bill Apter, Guerrero revealed that he is back with the Stamford-based company.
I just re-signed with WWE. I’m putting together, helping out with their AAA show. AAA is awesome, was always awesome. Lucha Libre, that’s where my family originated from. So I have a big love of Lucha Libre, and just to see AAA under that WWE umbrella is pretty awesome.

WWE announced its acquisition of Mexican lucha libre promotion AAA Lucha Libre Worldwide in partnership with Fillip during WrestleMania 41 in April 2025. The goal is to combine the company’s global platform with AAA’s deep cultural roots.
To kick off the partnership, a major crossover show titled Worlds Collide took place on June 7 at the Kia Forum, featuring stars from AAA, NXT, and the WWE roster, including Dominik Mysterio, Lola Vice, Mr. Iguana, Dragon Lee, and El Hijo del Vikingo.
As for Guerrero, he is a former WWE Tag Team, Cruiserweight, and ECW Champion, and hasn’t wrestled in WWE since 2011. After his departure, he appeared in Impact Wrestling, AEW, and on the independent circuit.
During his WWE tenure, Chavo won tag team gold alongside his late uncle Eddie Guerrero and helped create the iconic “Lie, Cheat, and Steal” persona that defined Eddie’s legendary career. He also gained attention for portraying the controversial Kerwin White character during his final WWE run.
