Chelsea are closing in on signing Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng
Chelsea FC are trying to find an agreement to sign Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng in the upcoming transfer window. According to reports Jerome Boateng too has decided to move on to London in his career.
Jerome Boateng will be the first transfer for new coach Thomas Tuchel who has led the team to three consecutive wins in the Premier League.
Jerome Boateng to Chelsea is a real possibility in the summer
The German defender has his contract run out this summer and is looking for a potential move out of the Allianz Arena after spending quite a lot of time at the Bavarian giants. There are multiple reports that Chelsea were trying to sign Jerome Boateng ever since the Frank Lampard time at the club.
This means that a change in management has no effect on the club wanting to bring Jerome Boateng over to Stamford Bridge. However this will give some difficulty to Bayern Munich who will need some new players to fill in the gaps.
David Alaba is also going to leave the club at the end of the season and is speculated to join Real Madrid. However a move to Chelsea as well is still on the cards as he was linked to them in the January transfer window already.
“We all know Jerome has a contract until June 30, 2021. We will talk to Jerome and his management at a reasonable time. We’ll come to a fair decision for everyone,” Salihamidzic said in November.
“This is not an issue for us at the moment.”
Chelsea have reached an agreement in principle for Bayern Munich’s Jerome Boateng to move to Stamford Bridge this summer.
Chelsea have been working on the deal for some time and if ‘nothing goes wrong’, Boateng will become the first signing of the Thomas Tuchel era.
